Velveteen Dream Smoothing Balm is the pre-blow-dry step in the frizz control system. Applied to damp hair before blow-drying, it both protects against heat and actively smooths the hair cuticle during the drying process. The result is a smoother, sleeker finished style that is also more resistant to humidity reverting the work afterward.

Works on all frizz-prone hair types — fine hair uses a small amount, thick or coarse hair uses more. The balm provides hold as well as smoothness, making it the most useful prep step for anyone doing a full blowout.

It is the heat protection — the thermal barrier is built in. Apply to damp hair before blow-drying. If using The Shield as well, apply The Shield first, then the Balm over it for layered frizz control.
Use a small amount on fine hair — a pea-sized amount for shoulder-length fine hair. Apply to mid-lengths and ends only, avoid the roots, and blow-dry from root to end. Fine hair can use it without significant weight issues.
It will provide some smoothing benefit air-dried, but the formula is designed to be thermally activated under a blow dryer. For air-dry frizz control, The Shield or Smooth Over Treatment are better matched.
