It doesn't contain formaldehyde or formaldehyde-releasing ingredients, which have been a concern with some older smoothing systems. The formula works by smoothing the hair cuticle and temporarily altering the hair's texture to reduce frizz and volume.

The results are real and lasting. Most clients get 4 to 6 months of smoother, more manageable hair from a single treatment. It's not a permanent straightening system — it softens and smooths rather than completely altering the natural pattern — which means your hair still moves and behaves naturally, just without the frizz.

What happens during the appointment?

A Cezanne treatment at Moda Salon takes approximately 2 to 3 hours depending on your hair length and thickness. Here's exactly what happens:

1. Wash
Your hair is thoroughly washed to remove any product buildup, oil, or residue. Clean hair allows the treatment to penetrate evenly.

2. Blowdry
The hair is fully blowdried before the treatment is applied. This ensures the formula is going onto dry hair rather than damp.

3. Application
The Cezanne formula is applied to the hair in sections. Your stylist works through the hair methodically to ensure even coverage from root to tip.

4. Wash
The treatment is rinsed out thoroughly.

5. Blowdry and flat iron
The hair is blowdried again and then flat-ironed section by section. The heat activates and sets the treatment into the hair. This is the step that locks the smoothing effect in.

Sulphate-free shampoo is the single most important product choice after a Cezanne treatment — sulphates strip the cuticle more aggressively and can shorten how long the smoothing effect holds. Cezanne Silky Nourishing Oil — $35.90 CAD
A lightweight finishing oil with Argan, Moringa, and Avocado Oil that smooths rough hair, adds shine, reduces blowdry time, and fights humidity frizz. Apply a small amount to damp hair before blowdrying or to dry hair as a finishing step. This is the product our stylists use at the end of the Cezanne appointment to finish the hair — and it's one of the most effective frizz-fighting oils we carry for day-to-day use.

Both are sulphate-free, violet-toning formulas designed to neutralise brassiness and maintain cool tone while supporting the Cezanne treatment results. Before the in-salon treatment, we use the Cezanne Clarifying Shampoo — $59.10 CAD as the prep step. It deep-cleanses buildup, oil, and residue to reset the hair and prime it for the treatment. It's also available to purchase if you want to do a clarifying cleanse at home before your appointment.

How is Cezanne different from a Brazilian blowout or keratin treatment?

The short answer: Cezanne is a cleaner formula with no formaldehyde, no harsh chemical smell during application, and no post-treatment restrictions. Some older keratin and Brazilian blowout systems use formaldehyde or formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, which produce fumes during the flat iron step and require the client to avoid washing, tying, or pinning their hair for 24 to 72 hours after the treatment.

Cezanne doesn't have those restrictions. The formula is safer for regular use, safer for the stylist applying it, and doesn't require you to sleep with your hair completely flat and untouched for two days. The results are genuinely comparable in terms of smoothing and frizz reduction, without the compromises.
