Good to Know

The E-Lyon® is a digital motor — it spins at higher RPM, maintains its speed under load without power loss, and runs quieter than the K-Advance Plus® DC motor in the Alyon. In practice: the Digitalyon dries faster on thick or resistant hair (the motor doesn't labour), stays audibly quieter throughout the blowout, and at 395g is 54g lighter than the Alyon. Digital motors also have longer operational lifespans than DC motors. It is the same 1875W Canadian spec — the difference is entirely in the motor technology.
Noticeably quieter — enough that you can hold a normal conversation while it is running, which is not the case with the Alyon. The Digitalyon has a dedicated acoustic silencing system in addition to the digital motor's inherently quieter operation. For clients who dry their hair early in the morning, in shared spaces, or who are sensitive to dryer noise, the difference is meaningful. The My Melody Silencer accessory can be added for even quieter operation if needed.
The Parlux Magic Sense Diffuser With Adapter — the adapter is included and fits the Digitalyon. The Parlux Alyon Light Diffuser is not compatible with the Digitalyon. The MagicCompact® Diffuser is designed for the ELYSIUM and is not compatible with the Digitalyon. For curly and wavy Digitalyon owners, the Magic Sense Diffuser is the correct attachment.
The slim straightening nozzle included with the Digitalyon has a narrower, flatter opening than a standard concentrator. It directs airflow in a more concentrated, flatter stream that mimics the effect of a flat iron — use it with medium tension on a round brush, pulling down the section slowly, and the result is flat, smooth, and shiny hair without needing to follow up with a straightening iron. For most blowouts on straight or wavy hair, it can replace the flat iron step entirely.
Yes, for three specific reasons: weight (395g vs 449g — significant over an extended blowout), noise (the acoustic silencing is a genuine differentiator), and airflow (88 vs 84 m³/h — faster drying on thick hair). If you are already happy with your Alyon's performance and do not blow out your hair daily, the Alyon remains excellent and there is no urgency to upgrade. If you blow out your hair daily, have thick or resistant hair, value quiet operation, or want the lightest professional dryer available, the Digitalyon is the right choice.
