The Hair Free System is a patented Parlux device built into the rear intake of the Alyon. It captures and collects hair before it enters the motor — hair that would otherwise accumulate inside the motor housing, restrict airflow, reduce efficiency, and shorten the motor's operational life. Cleaning the HFS filter regularly (every few uses) takes seconds and is the single most important maintenance step for protecting your Alyon's 3,000-hour rated lifespan.
Both are 1875W professional Parlux dryers made in Italy. The Alyon uses the K-Advance Plus® DC motor (3,000-hour lifespan, 84 m³/h airflow, 449g). The Digitalyon uses the newer digital E-Lyon® motor (88 m³/h airflow, 395g, acoustic silencing system built in). The Digitalyon is 54g lighter, produces more airflow, and is noticeably quieter. The Alyon is the professional standard; the Digitalyon is the upgrade for clients who want lighter weight and quieter operation. Price difference reflects the motor generation.
Two options: the Parlux Alyon Light Diffuser (designed specifically for the Alyon, direct fit) and the Parlux Magic Sense Diffuser With Adapter (compatible with both the Alyon and the Digitalyon via the included adapter). If you own only the Alyon, either works — the Light Diffuser is the Alyon-only option; the Magic Sense gives you flexibility if you ever add a Digitalyon. The Digitalyon's MagicCompact® Diffuser is not compatible with the Alyon.
The Air Ionizer Tech in the Alyon generates negative ions during drying. Negative ions neutralise the positive charge that builds up in the hair shaft during heat styling — that positive charge is what causes static, frizz, and the flyaway effect after blow-drying. By neutralising it as you dry, the Air Ionizer Tech produces smoother, static-free hair that looks finished rather than just dried. The cold shot button at the end of each section completes the work — it seals the cuticle and locks in the smooth result.
Yes — the Alyon is sold widely for home use and is one of the most popular professional-grade home dryers. The 3,000-hour motor lifespan means a client washing and blowing out their hair daily would need approximately 8+ years of daily use to reach that rating. The 9-foot cable, 449g weight, HFS system, and four temperature settings are all genuinely useful at home. The only adjustment: the Alyon runs at 1875W on the Canadian model, which is standard for Canadian outlets — no adapter or concern needed.
