A root volume powder that delivers instant matte lift at the crown on dry hair — the finishing step and day-two reset for fine hair that collapses between washes.
The Moda Team Review
Powder Puff is the product for the second day — and the third. It is a dry application at the root on already-styled hair that reactivates lift, absorbs any oil at the scalp, and gives fine hair the kind of matte, airy volume that feels like wash day without actually washing. Unlike dry shampoo, which mostly absorbs oil and adds a little texture, Powder Puff is specifically engineered for volume — the powders swell the hair shaft at the root and create immediate lift that holds through movement.
The matte finish is the other thing that makes this different. Fine hair that goes flat between washes often looks flat partly because the scalp oil gives it a slightly shiny, limp appearance. Powder Puff counteracts both: it absorbs the oil and adds matte texture that makes the hair look clean, full and intentionally styled rather than second-day and flat.
Why Moda Carries This
We carry Powder Puff because the PLUMPING system does not stop at the shower. As a White Haven Kevin Murphy salon, we know this lineup well enough to know that volume routines live and die on the days between washes. Powder Puff is what keeps the routine going on days two and three — it is the closer, and for fine-haired clients who wash every other day or less, it is often the product they end up reaching for most.
Key Active Ingredients
-
Silica Microspheres: Lightweight volumising powder particles that attach to the hair shaft at the root and physically swell it to create immediate lift and separation without chalky buildup.
-
Rice Starch: Absorbs scalp oil and humidity at the root to eliminate the limpness and shine that comes with second-day hair while adding matte texture.
-
Kaolin Clay: Mineral-based absorbent that adds grip and texture at the root, helping hair hold lift and movement after application.
Moda Pro Tip
Apply Powder Puff to the root in small sections — part the hair, hold the bottle close, and tap rather than spray. Let it sit for 30 seconds before massaging in with fingertips at the root. The sitting time is critical: if you massage immediately, you work the powder into the scalp before it has a chance to swell the shaft. After massaging, use your fingers or a brush to lift at the root and the volume will be immediately visible. Less is more — build in sections and stop when you have the lift you need.
Not the Right Fit If...
Powder Puff is a dry-hair finish product, not a styling step on wet hair. If you are looking for volume before or during your blow-dry, Body Mass or Full Again are the right products. Powder Puff is the reset between washes, not the foundation of the blowout.
How To Use
- Section dry, styled hair at the root where volume is needed.
- Hold close to the root and apply in small, controlled taps — not a full spray.
- Let sit for 30 seconds before touching.
- Massage in with fingertips at the root, then lift with fingers or a brush.
- Build section by section until desired volume is achieved.
