  • Rica Naturica: Which System Is Right for Your Hair?

    Jul 8, 2026

Most professional hair care lines give you a shampoo and a conditioner and call it a system. Rica Naturica went a different direction: seven distinct concern-specific systems, each built for a specific scalp and hair need, all vegan, all colour-safe, all formulated to deliver professional results at a price point that makes weekly use genuinely practical.

Naturica was launched by Rica in 2014 as the brand's entry into professional salon hair care. The line is made in Sicily, ISO 9001 and GMP certified, packaged with 35% recycled PCR plastic, and built on the Rica Naturica colour-safe complex β€” which means every system is safe to use on colour-treated and bleached hair without compromising the colour investment.

Here's how to find the right system for your hair.

Moisturizing Defense β€” normal to dry hair

For hair that feels dry, rough, or loses shine quickly between washes. Not damaged in the structural sense β€” just consistently thirsty. The Moisturizing Defense system uses wheat and soy proteins, grape seed extract, vitamin E, and pro-vitamin B5 to restore softness, shine, and vibrancy at every wash step.

Stylist tip: dry hair usually needs consistency more than intensity. Pair the shampoo and conditioner daily and add the mask weekly. The cumulative effect is better than occasional intensive treatment on its own.

Volumizing Experience β€” fine or limp hair

For hair that collapses, goes flat quickly, or feels weighed down by most conditioners. Fine hair still needs moisture β€” but delivered lightly, in formulas that add tone and body without coating the hair. The Volumizing Experience system uses wheat proteins, vitamins A and H, and Red Sicilian orange to build body and support fine hair structure without heaviness.

Stylist tip: For fine hair, keep conditioner focused on mid-lengths and ends only. The root area doesn't need it and it's the fastest way to flatten an otherwise good blowout.

Repairing Deep β€” very dry or damaged hair

For hair that's been through lightening, chemical services, heat damage, or extended colour history and is now dry, brittle, or breaking. The Repairing Deep system uses Sicilian olive oil, pistachio oil, ceramides, proteins, and keratin extract to nourish and strengthen from the inside out.

Stylist tip: Use a wide-tooth comb after applying the treatment through mid-lengths and ends so it distributes evenly before rinsing. Uneven distribution is the main reason treatments seem inconsistent.

    Detoxifying Comfort β€” scalp buildup

For scalps that feel coated, congested, or like hair isn't quite behaving because there's too much product history sitting on it. The Detoxifying Comfort system uses caper extract, mint and rosemary essential oils, ceramides, and UV filters to reset the scalp without harsh stripping.

    • Detoxifying Comfort Shampoo β€” $34.70 CAD β€” pH-neutral frequent-use shampoo that gently lifts daily buildup. Use this when hair feels coated before reaching for a full clarifying shampoo.
    • Detoxifying Comfort Scrub β€” $39.70 CAD β€” scalp exfoliant with ultra-fine pumice granules. Applied after shampooing, massaged section by section from roots to tips, rinsed. 1–2 times weekly. Keep the pressure light and let the formula do the work.

Stylist tip: If hair feels heavy and styling products aren't performing the way they used to, start with the Detoxifying Shampoo for a week before anything else. Buildup is the most common reason products stop working as expected.

    Balancing Remedy β€” oily scalp

For scalps that get oily quickly but can't tolerate aggressive clarifying formulas that leave the hair dry and rough. The Balancing Remedy uses thiolysine complex, cedarwood, pink grapefruit, and Red Sicilian orange to regulate oil and purify without roughing up the hair fibre.

    • Balancing Remedy Shampoo β€” $34.70 CAD β€” gentle oil-controlling cleanse. Concentrate the first lather at the scalp and let the rinse cleanse the lengths β€” oily roots and dry ends often need different treatment.

Soothing Relief β€” sensitive or dandruff-prone scalp

For scalps that react to fragrance, sulphates, or seasonal changes, or that deal with flaking, itchiness, and discomfort. The Soothing Relief system uses Piroctone Olamine (an anti-dandruff active), essential oils of sage, thyme and chamomile, and Red Sicilian orange to soothe and purify without making the hair routine feel clinical.

Stylist tip: A reactive scalp often responds to multiple things simultaneously β€” the formula, the technique, the frequency of washing. If nothing you've tried has worked, come in for an appointment before switching products again. A professional look at the scalp usually identifies the cause quickly.

Energizing Miracle β€” thinning or fall-prone hair

For hair that's noticeably thinning, shedding seasonally, or feels weaker at the roots than it used to. The Energizing Miracle system uses ginseng, watercress, rosemary essential oil, caper, mint, vitamins A, B, C, F and H, and the AQ-Save complex to fortify hair and support scalp vitality. The key is consistency β€” this system works over a six-week period, not after one use.

Naturica Blonde β€” for blonde and bleached hair

A targeted system for fragile, lightened hair that needs repair, colour protection, and shine without further compromise.

    The value case for Naturica

Professional hair care shouldn't require choosing between quality and cost. Naturica shampoos from $34.70. Conditioners and treatments from $39.70. Masks from $40. The Energizing Miracle Kit at $74 for the full scalp ritual. These are ISO-certified, GMP-certified professional formulas at prices that make weekly use practical rather than occasional.
