A colour-depositing conditioner that refreshes chestnut tone — warm, rich brown with red-brown depth — and keeps brunette colour looking intentional between appointments.
The Moda Team Review
Chestnut is the Fabuloso shade for the client whose colour lives in the warm-brown-to-deep-red-brown range — think rich espresso with warmth, mahogany-adjacent brunette, or any colour where the brown and the red are working together to give depth and dimension. It is a deeper, more saturated shade than Caramel, and warmer and more brown-dominant than Red or Copper.
The 30 ml size makes this a natural entry point for anyone who is new to colour-depositing conditioners and wants to see how the chestnut tone interacts with their specific hair before committing to a larger size. It gives two to three full applications — enough to nail your timing and confirm the shade is the right match — without requiring a significant investment upfront.
As with all the warm, saturated Fabuloso shades, timing is everything. Two to three minutes on medium-density brunette hair gives a soft refresh. Longer processing on fine or porous hair can push the result noticeably deeper. Start short, assess in natural light once dry, and build from there. Hair comes out soft and glossy regardless of processing time — the conditioning base is doing its job while the pigment works.
Why Moda Carries This
EVO built Fabuloso to cover the full spectrum from platinum blonde to deep brunette so every colour client has a maintenance option. Chestnut fills the space between warm caramel and vivid red — the rich, multidimensional brown that many brunette clients and men with colour services need to maintain. We carry it because it is genuinely useful for a demographic that often does not have good at-home colour maintenance options.
Key Active Ingredient(s)
-
Direct dye pigments (warm chestnut/brown-red tone): Deposit warm, rich brown-red pigment onto the hair cuticle. Deeper and more saturated than Caramel, warmer and more brown-dominant than Red.
-
Conditioning agents: Smooth the cuticle and add softness during processing.
Moda Pro Tip
If you are between Chestnut and Caramel tonally, try mixing them 50/50 in a small bowl before applying. The result sits between the two shades — warmer and richer than Caramel alone, lighter and less red than Chestnut alone. A lot of brunette balayage clients fall exactly in this middle ground.
Not the Right Fit If...
Not the right choice for naturally dark, unlifted hair where the pigment will not show visibly. Not suitable for clients who want to go lighter or add cool tones. Chestnut is for warm brunette and brown-red colour that needs maintenance, not transformation.
How To Use
- Shampoo as normal and squeeze out excess water.
- Apply Fabuloso Chestnut evenly through mid-lengths and ends.
