K18PEPTIDE™ is a short bioactive peptide small enough to pass through the cuticle into the cortex, where it binds to the broken chain ends and reconnects them — which is why elasticity returns rather than just softness, and why it needs four minutes of contact with no conditioner in the way. AirWash uses odorBIND™ to bind and neutralise odour molecules and starch-free microbeads to absorb sebum, so hair can go three days between washes without the buildup that would stress a rebuilding fibre.

Ask ModaWhy does K18 say to skip conditioner? My hair feels rough without it.
Yes, skip it for the first four to six washes. Conditioner coats the cuticle and blocks the peptide from reaching the cortex, where the repair happens. The mask itself is a leave-in and softens once the structure rebuilds. After the initial protocol, you can condition again and use the mask as maintenance.
How long does the 50 ml mask last?
Yes, a long time — the dose is one to two pumps. At the initial protocol of every wash, then maintenance every three to four washes, 50 ml typically lasts four to six months. It is the most economical size per application, which is why the full size is the one to gift.
Is AirWash actually different from other dry shampoos?
Yes. Most dry shampoos are starch and fragrance — they absorb oil but leave residue and a white cast, and they perfume over odour. AirWash uses translucent microbeads for oil and odorBIND™ technology to bind and neutralise odour molecules, with nothing to brush out. It works on dark hair and does not build up on the scalp.
I use a bond builder at the salon during colour. Do I still need this?
Yes, they do different jobs. In-salon bond builders protect disulphide bonds during the chemical service. K18PEPTIDE™ reconnects the polypeptide chains — the keratin backbone — that are already broken, and it works at home between services. Most of our colour clients use both.
Can I use the mask on my scalp and roots?
Yes, K18 directs roots to ends, because damage from colour starts at the root. It is lightweight and does not weigh roots down. If your roots are virgin regrowth with no colour on them, you can start an inch or two down — there is nothing to repair there.
