What do our roles mean?

Every stylist at Moda trains to the same standard. Roles reflect experience, education and demand — not the quality of care you’ll get in the chair.

Leadership + guest experience

Founder

Sets Moda’s vision, culture and standards. Responsible for protecting what Moda stands for while continuing to evolve the company, the team and the industry around it.

Head of Education

Leads Moda’s education culture and apprenticeship development, including Sunday School. Builds the learning pathway, identifies development needs and supports consistent education across the team.

Heart of House

The people behind the client experience. They manage the details that keep the salon moving, support the team and make sure clients feel cared for before, during and after their appointment.

The Moda stylist path

Apprentice Stylist

The beginning of Moda’s formal stylist development pathway. Apprentices learn through hands-on experience, observation, education and repetition. Depending on demonstrated ability, they may shampoo, provide treatments, blow-dry and perform appropriate technical work with support.

Emerging Stylist

In the final stage of apprenticeship and approaching full Stylist level. Emerging Stylists are gaining greater independence behind the chair while refining technique, timing, consultations and confidence, with licensed-stylist support where required.

Stylist

Fully working behind the chair and continuing to build experience and clientele. The focus at this level is consistency, technical growth, consultation, timing, recommendations, retention and developing an individual identity as a stylist.

Lead Stylist

Accomplished stylists approaching Master level. They demonstrate advanced technical ability, strong consultations, consistency, independence and established client relationships while continuing to refine their craft.

Master Stylist

The highest technical stylist level at Moda. Master Stylists have demonstrated exceptional technical ability, consultation, consistency, professionalism and client experience. Teaching is not required at this level.

Outside the path

Legacy Stylist

Highly experienced stylists with established careers and clientele who are no longer focused on traditional clientele-building or progressing through Moda’s stylist levels. They may work reduced or specialized schedules while continuing to bring their experience and craft to Moda.

Moda Mentor

Moda Mentors are recognized educators within our team who actively share their craft, teach through Moda education and help develop the next generation of stylists.
