Ask ModaHow is this different from a regular hair mask?
Yes — it's designed specifically for curly hair, both in formula and in how you use it. Beyond the deep moisture of the Curl Guard Complex, the application technique is curl-focused: you glide it down through wet hair, detangle, then squeeze upward toward the scalp to reintroduce and encourage the natural curl pattern. This scrunching motion is key to curl definition. It also closes the cuticle, so unlike a regular mask you don't follow it with a conditioner — it's the complete moisture step.
How long should I leave it on?
Between 3 and 15 minutes, depending on how much moisture your curls need. For a quick boost or looser waves, 3–5 minutes is plenty; for coarser, drier, or tighter curls and coils that drink up moisture, leave it the full 15 minutes. You can even pop on a shower cap and leave it while you finish your shower routine. Then rinse thoroughly — no conditioner needed afterwards.
How often should I use it?
It depends on your curls and how dry they are. For everyday washing, the Co-Wash alone conditions well enough, and you can add the Finishing Treatment Masque once or twice a week for a deeper moisture boost. Very dry, coarse, or tightly coiled hair may benefit from using it more often, even at every wash. Let your hair guide you — if curls feel dry or frizzy, use the Masque more frequently.
Is it silicone-free?
Yes — the whole Coils & Curls range is free from silicones, sulphates, and parabens. Silicone-free is especially valued in curly hair care because silicones can build up on curls and require stripping cleansers to remove. Being silicone-free keeps the range compatible with a gentle, curl-friendly routine. It's also 100% vegan and cruelty-free.
