How to use
Use it the way we would.
- Shampoo and towel-dry.
- Wear gloves. Apply with a brush, distributing evenly and combing through to the ends.
- Leave on 10-20 minutes depending on desired richness.
- Emulsify, then rinse thoroughly.
- Colour deposit fades out completely after about 6 washes.
Moda stylist tipFor maximum mirror shine, process for 10–12 minutes, rinse with the coldest water you can stand, and skip a separate conditioner that wash. Cold water seals the cuticle flat with the pigment inside. The mask is conditioning enough on its own for most brunette hair types.

Yes — that's exactly what it's designed for. Flatness in brunette isn't about dramatic fade; it's about lost depth and warmth. The mineral pigment deposit in Burnt Umber restores that richness. It's most visible in natural light — your colour looks less washed out and more intentional within the first use.
I have very dark brown, almost black hair. Will I actually see any result from Burnt Umber Mask?
On very dark or natural hair, the visible colour shift is subtle — but the shine and depth effect is real. You'll notice the quality of your colour's shine more than a visible tone change. If you have dark brown colour-treated hair, the pigment will show more because colour-treated hair is more porous and absorbs deposit more readily.
How is Burnt Umber Mask different from Terra Cotta? I'm not sure which one I need.
Terra Cotta is calibrated for lighter hair — honey blonde to light brunette, caramel balayage, warm mèches. Burnt Umber is for medium to dark brunette where you want genuine depth and richness rather than a golden or caramel shift. If your hair is mostly brown, not blonde, Burnt Umber.
Will Burnt Umber Mask make my hair look too warm or orange?
No — the umber pigment reads as warm brown, not orange. On brunette hair it deepens and enriches rather than shifting the tone toward red or orange. The risk of orange is much higher on lighter hair using red or copper masks — Burnt Umber is designed for the brown range and behaves accordingly.
Can I use RICA Cromearth Burnt Umber Mask on uncoloured, natural brunette hair?
Yes — the main benefit on virgin hair will be shine and depth rather than visible colour deposit, since natural hair is less porous. It's still worth using for the conditioning and gloss effect. For visible pigment results on natural brunette, a gloss service at the salon first opens the hair slightly and makes the at-home mask significantly more effective.
