Ask ModaI've never used a texturizing powder before. Will it look like powder sitting in my hair?
No — if applied correctly, it's invisible. Natural silica in micronized powder form is what allows No. 309 to disperse evenly without visible residue. Apply a small amount at the root, massage in thoroughly with the fingertips before styling over the top. The key is not over-applying — a light shake and immediate massage is enough for most hair types.
My hair is quite thin and flat. How much should I actually use?
Start with one or two gentle shakes directly at the root and work in immediately with fingertips. Add more only after the first amount is fully massaged through. Less is genuinely more with No. 309 — a small amount creates immediate lift and texture; excess creates a powdery white appearance.
Does No. 309 work on its own or does it need to be combined with a styling product?
Both approaches work. No. 309 on its own gives volume and texture with a soft, natural matte result. Combined with a styling product applied after the dust is massaged in, it gives the hold product a better surface to grip and amplifies the result. Most clients find it most effective as a base before No. 301, No. 302, or No. 304.
I have oily hair that gets flat quickly. Will No. 309 last through the day or does it absorb into the oil?
The natural silica in No. 309 actually absorbs oil, which helps maintain its effectiveness on oily hair. As oil returns through the day the lift will gradually reduce. A small re-application at the root mid-day is possible without washing — it refreshes the texture and absorbs the oil simultaneously.
Can I use No. 309 on coloured or chemically treated hair?
Yes. No. 309 is a mechanical volumising product — it works by physically lifting the hair shaft through silica contact rather than chemically interacting with the hair structure. It doesn't affect colour, chemical treatments, or the structural integrity of the hair. It's safe for use on bleached, coloured, permed, or relaxed hair.
