It's heat-activated. You spray it onto damp hair and then blow-dry, and the heat sets its smoothing formula, sealing the hair cuticle for a glossy, frizz-free finish. Because the treatment is bonded in with heat rather than just sitting on the surface like a serum, the result lasts up to 4 days (through gentle washing and daily wear), not just until your next wash. Finishing with a straightener or round brush boosts the gloss further. In testing, it delivered 74% less frizz and shinier hair for 9 out of 10 users.
Do I have to blow-dry it? Can I leave it in?
Yes, you must blow-dry it — this is essential. Gloss Coat is a heat-activated treatment, so the smoothing and shine only develop when you dry it in with heat. Spray it on damp hair, comb through, then blow-dry section by section to activate. And yes, you leave it in — never rinse it out. It stays in the hair as a leave-in treatment, which is how it keeps working for up to 4 days. If you don't use heat at all, this product won't perform, so it's best for anyone who blow-dries.
Does it also protect from heat?
Yes — it protects the hair from heat damage up to 230°C / 450°F, which covers blow-drying, straightening, and curling. So it's a genuine multitasker: a smoothing shine treatment, a styler, and a heat protectant in one step. You don't need a separate heat protectant when using it, since it shields the hair as you activate it and style. It also protects colour from fading and dullness.
What hair types is it best for?
It's suitable for all hair types, but it shines (literally) on dry, frizzy, and colour-treated hair — anyone chasing that smooth, glossy, glass-hair look or fighting frizz and humidity. Curly hair can use it for a smoother, glossier blowout, though if you want to keep your natural curl, the Coils & Curls range is the better fit. For fine hair, the Provitamin B5 adds a volumising effect so it smooths without flattening. Colour-treated hair benefits from the built-in colour protection.
