Ask ModaIs the formula in the 500ml the same as the 250ml PLUMPING bottles?
Yes — identical formula. The 500ml is the same PLUMPING.WASH and PLUMPING.RINSE in a larger bottle at better cost per wash. Kevin Murphy does not change formulas between retail and professional sizes in the PLUMPING range.
How does the PLUMPING system physically thicken fine hair?
Rice Amino Acids in both the Wash and Rinse penetrate the hair shaft and deposit on the inside of the fibre, physically expanding its diameter with consistent use. Oleanolic Acid supports this at the follicle level, nourishing the root environment that determines shaft diameter over time. This is structural thickness — the hair fibre is actually wider — rather than surface bulk from product coating the outside. Volume mousse adds surface bulk that washes away; the PLUMPING system adds measurable structural density that accumulates.
Will PLUMPING.RINSE flatten my fine hair?
Not if applied correctly. Apply to hair that has been squeezed free of excess water and focus on mid-lengths to ends only — keep it off the root zone where weight accumulates fastest on fine hair. Leave 1–2 minutes, then rinse with cool water to seal the cuticle. The Shea Butter formula is specifically designed to condition without the heavy waxes that flatten fine hair, but application technique matters — roots last, or roots not at all.
How does PLUMPING compare to ANGEL for fine hair?
Both address fine hair but through different approaches. PLUMPING is the densifying system — Rice Amino Acids and Oleanolic Acid physically expand shaft diameter, Ginger Root and Nettle stimulate the follicle. It is the right choice when the primary concern is actual thinning, reduced density, or ageing hair. ANGEL is the recovery and volume system for fine hair that is primarily colour-treated or over-processed — it prioritises protein repair, antioxidant colour protection, and body alongside volume.
