How to use
Use it the way we would.
- Shampoo and towel-dry.
- Wear gloves. Apply with a brush, distributing evenly and combing through to the ends.
- Leave on 10-20 minutes depending on desired warmth.
- Emulsify, then rinse thoroughly.
- Colour deposit fades out completely after about 6 washes.
Moda stylist tipStart at the ends — the oldest, most faded section. Work toward the roots and apply there last, for less time. On light honey blonde, check colour at 5 minutes before going to 10 — the pigment is rich enough to shift lighter hair noticeably.

Ask ModaWill RICA Cromearth Terra Cotta Mask make my brunette hair look orange or too warm?
Not when used as directed. The terracotta pigment adds warmth and richness, not brassiness. The key is processing time — 5 minutes gives a subtle warm refresh, 10 gives deeper deposit. Start shorter and adjust from there. On very dark hair, the effect will be more of a richness and shine than a visible colour shift.
I have honey blonde balayage. Is Terra Cotta the right mask, or should I use Yellow Ocher?
Both can work, depending on what you're going for. Yellow Ocher is a brighter, more golden result — it makes highlights pop. Terra Cotta gives a richer, deeper warmth — more caramel than gold. If your balayage skews warm and rich, Terra Cotta. If it's more light and bright blonde, Yellow Ocher.
My hair is dark brown with some mèches. Will Terra Cotta Mask actually show up on my base?
Yes — the pigment will be most visible on your lighter mèches, where it will restore warmth and depth. On the dark brunette base, you'll get more of a richness and gloss effect than a visible colour deposit. If your base is very deep, the Burnt Umber Mask is designed specifically for brunette depth.
How often should I use RICA Cromearth Terra Cotta Mask to maintain my colour?
Once a week is enough for most clients. If you're actively trying to rebuild faded warmth, use it weekly for 3–4 weeks, then drop to every other week to maintain. You want to add colour gradually and keep the result looking natural, not saturated.
Can I use Terra Cotta Mask if I have a semi-permanent or demi-permanent colour, not just highlights?
Yes — it's compatible with any colour-treated hair, including semi and demi-permanent formulas. It's a colour-refresh mask, not a colour service, so it adds tone on top of what's already there rather than altering the base. It actually helps extend the life of your colour service by maintaining the warmth as it fades.
