The client who comes in every six weeks with hair that looks good when freshly washed but deteriorates quickly and feels brittle and dull by mid-week within a few days. Daily products are maintaining, not restoring. We add the Young Again Masque once a week on top of their Wash and Rinse routine. Within four weeks they report that the deterioration is slower and the hair feels noticeably stronger at the mid-lengths where it was snapping. Kevin Murphy designed the Young Again Masque as the intensive treatment tier of the REJUVENATE regimen — the weekly dose that goes beyond what daily use of the Wash and Rinse can achieve. The 5 to 10 minute contact time is not arbitrary; it is the window the amino acids and Baobab Oil need to penetrate below the cuticle surface and deposit in the cortex where structural repair happens.

- Young Again Masque is built on the same Immortelle and Baobab Oil REJUVENATE core as the Wash and Rinse, but adds Hydrolyzed Quinoa Protein — containing all eight essential amino acids — as its key differentiator. Quinoa Protein binds directly to the hair shaft to deliver deep repair and a protective barrier in a way a daily conditioner cannot. Hydrolyzed Rice Protein reinforces alongside it. Silk Amino Acids and Hydrolyzed Keratin rebuild structural protein and restore elasticity. The formula is sulphate-free and paraben-free.

Moda stylist tipThe most common mistake with any masque: rinsing it off and going straight to styling. Kevin Murphy specifies the Rinse as a mandatory post-masque step. The amino acid and Baobab work needs the cuticle closed over it to stay in the hair. The Rinse does that. Without it, a meaningful proportion of what the masque deposited washes away with the treatment rinse.

Ask ModaDo I use the Masque instead of the Rinse, or do I use both on the same wash day?
No — Kevin Murphy’s protocol is Masque and then Rinse, not one or the other. Apply Masque after washing, absorb 5–10 minutes, rinse the Masque out, then apply Young Again Rinse immediately and rinse again. The Rinse seals the cuticle over what the Masque deposited and locks in the treatment results.
How often should I use the Young Again Masque — is once a week enough?
Yes — once weekly is the brand recommendation and is enough for most clients using the Wash and Rinse daily. Hair in more significant distress can use it twice weekly. The daily Wash and Rinse routine maintains the baseline; the weekly Masque is the deeper reset on top of that daily foundation.
Can I use the Young Again Masque after a colour appointment?
Yes — Kevin Murphy designs the REJUVENATE regimen for colour-treated hair specifically. Using the Masque the week after a colour appointment delivers a concentrated restorative treatment to hair that has been through a chemical process. Wait until your first wash at home after the service, then apply the Masque as your treatment step that wash day.
Is 5 minutes long enough for the Masque to work, or should I leave it longer?
Yes — 5 minutes is the minimum Kevin Murphy specifies, and up to 10 minutes is the recommended window. Longer than 10 minutes does not improve the result noticeably — the amino acids and conditioning ingredients have fully deposited by then. A heat source (shower cap, warm towel, or hood dryer) during the contact window helps open the cuticle and can improve penetration.
Is Young Again Masque the same as Angel Masque, or are they for different hair types?
No — different formulations for different hair types and concerns. Angel Masque is a protein repair treatment for fine and colour-treated hair — it rebuilds strength and reduces breakage with a focus on fine hair’s specific fragility.
