How to use
Use it the way we would.
- Shampoo and towel-dry.
- Wear gloves. Apply with a brush, distributing evenly and combing through to the ends.
- Leave on 10-20 minutes depending on desired correction.
- Emulsify, then rinse thoroughly.
- Colour deposit fades out completely after about 6 washes.

How long should I leave Volcanic Ash Mask on? I don't want to end up with grey-looking hair.
Start at 5 minutes on your first use and rinse. Assess the result before going longer. On warm brunette hair with significant red reflects, 8–10 minutes gives a meaningful correction without overshooting. The grey-hair risk is real only if you use it on already-cool or lightly pigmented hair for too long.
Is Volcanic Ash Mask the same idea as a purple shampoo, just for brunettes?
Exactly right. Purple shampoo counteracts yellow in blonde by depositing the opposite colour on the wheel. Volcanic Ash does the same for red reflects in brunette — the cool ash pigment is on the opposite side of warm red-brown, so it neutralises rather than adds. The principle is identical; it's just calibrated for a different hair colour.
Can I use RICA Cromearth Volcanic Ash Mask on blonde hair that has warm reflects?
For yellow reflects in blonde, the Earth Moon Mask is the right choice — it's formulated with violet pigment specifically for blonde and grey. For orange reflects in lighter blonde or light brown, the Blue Marine Mask is better matched. Volcanic Ash is calibrated for the red-warm correction needed in brunette hair specifically.
How often should I use Volcanic Ash Mask to keep my brunette colour cool?
Once a week is plenty for most clients. Once the warmth is under control, you may find every other week is enough for maintenance. Don't use it every wash — alternating with the Neutral Mask on in-between weeks keeps the hair conditioned and lets you monitor tone without over-correcting.
