Why we like it

The Moda Team Review

Curls fail because there is not enough water in the hair, and it usually starts with a shampoo that is too aggressive. This set replaces the shampoo with a co-wash, adds a weekly moisture treatment, and finishes with a definer that sets curls in clumps rather than crunch. It is the routine we walk curly clients through at the chair, in three full-size bottles.

Read full stylist notes

The client with 2C–3A curls who has been shampooing daily with a drugstore volumising formula and says her curls "turned into waves" over the last year. Nothing changed in her hair — it is chronically dehydrated. Two weeks of co-washing and one Baby Got Bounce treatment and the curl pattern comes back. EVO is the family-owned Australian brand we trust for no-fluff results — vegan, cruelty-free, and built to do one job well. The EVO curl range is built around moisture and natural-finish hold rather than hard gels. Part of the Holiday 2026 gift collection.

What’s inside — and why it’s there

The ingredients worth knowing.

  • A curl's shape depends on hydrogen bonds that re-form as the hair dries; dehydrated hair cannot form them evenly and separates into frizz. Heads Will Roll uses mild cationic cleansing with avocado and jojoba lipids so sebum is lifted without the lipid stripping of foaming sulphates. Baby Got Bounce delivers argan and shea lipids plus hydrolysed quinoa protein to restore elasticity in the cortex. Total Recoil's cacao butter and light film-formers hold the curl clump together while the hydrogen bonds set, drying to a flexible rather than rigid hold.

How to use

Use it the way we would.

  1. Heads Will Roll: Apply generously to wet hair, massage scalp, work through lengths, rinse.
  2. Baby Got Bounce (weekly): Apply after cleansing, leave 5 minutes, rinse.
  3. Total Recoil: On soaking-wet hair, rake through, scrunch upward. Air-dry or diffuse.

Moda stylist tipTotal Recoil goes on dripping-wet hair, not towel-dried. Rake it through with fingers, scrunch upward toward the scalp, then hands off. The water lets it distribute and clump the curls; towel-dried hair takes it in patches and frizzes as it dries. Diffuse on low or air-dry, and do not touch until completely dry.

Good to know.

The questions we hear most about this product. If yours isn’t here, a real stylist will answer.

Ask Moda
There's no shampoo in this set — is a co-wash actually cleaning my hair?

Yes. Heads Will Roll uses mild cleansing agents and conditioning oils rather than foaming sulphates, so it lifts sebum and product without stripping the moisture curls need. Massage it into the scalp properly and rinse longer than you think — there is no foam to signal when it is gone.

Will Total Recoil leave my curls crunchy like a gel?

No. Total Recoil is a cacao-butter definer with flexible film-formers, so it dries to a soft, touchable hold rather than a hard cast. If you want more hold for tight coils, layer EVO Liquid Rollers underneath it rather than using more Total Recoil.

I have loose waves, not curls. Is this too heavy for me?

No, if you scale the amounts. Waves use a pea-sized amount of Total Recoil scrunched into soaking-wet hair, and the treatment every two weeks rather than weekly. The co-wash works for any texture. If your waves are very fine, the MacGyver Mousse may suit better than the definer.

How is this different from last year's Curly Routine Collection?

Yes, it has changed. Last year's set was four products including Springsclean and Liquid Rollers; the 2026 Ring It In set is the three-step core — co-wash, treatment, definer — with the co-wash new to the set. Springsclean and Liquid Rollers are still available separately.

My scalp gets oily fast. Can I still co-wash only?

No, not exclusively. Oily or itch-prone scalps do better alternating: co-wash most washes, then EVO Springsclean Deep Cleaning Rinse once a week to clear buildup. Your curls still get the moisture benefit of the routine and your scalp stays clean.
