Ask ModaThe set is called Hydrate + Hold — is PhD a moisturising line?
No, not in the heavy-moisture sense. PhD conditions and softens without weight, and the hydration in the name refers to keeping hair healthy and balanced rather than treating dryness. For hair that is properly dry or coarse, the Restore line or Moisture Rescue Mask does more.
Will Flex Hairspray make my hair stiff or flaky?
No. Flex uses flexible polymers that hold shape with movement rather than setting a rigid shell, and it brushes through without flaking. If you want a firmer, updo-level hold, the Style Lab Control Hairspray is the step up.
What is the Healthy Hair Molecule, and is it a silicone?
No, it is not a silicone. It is a patented polymer (OFPMA) that forms a layer far thinner than silicone to repel humidity without coating or buildup. It is in all three products in this set, which is why the humidity defence carries from the wash through to the finished style.
Can I use this on colour-treated hair?
Yes. PhD Shampoo cleanses without stripping and is colour-safe, and the humidity layer helps reduce the swelling and fading that damp air causes in coloured hair. The hairspray adds UV-free protection from the same molecule. It is a routine we recommend for coloured hair with no other concern.
Is this the same as the PhD 1000 ml duo, just smaller?
No. The 1000 ml duo is shampoo and conditioner only, in litre bottles. This set has the 236 ml retail sizes and adds the full-size Flex Hairspray, so it is a complete wash-to-finish routine rather than a bulk refill — the better first purchase or gift.
