Why we like it
The Moda Team Review
It is the only Mirror Gloss product containing synthetic mica and titanium dioxide - actual light-reflecting mineral particles rather than purely optical smoothing. Neither appears in the shampoo, conditioner or rinse. Add shea butter sixth on the list and you have a weekly treatment that genuinely does something the rest of the line cannot.

Maria Nila is a Swedish line we brought in as a new brand, chosen with our younger clients in mind and because the range is genuinely playful - a hair mask with mica in it is a fair illustration of that. Every formula is 100% vegan with no animal ingredients or animal testing, the company is B Corp certified, and the packaging is CO2-compensated. Our honest read is that this is the up-and-coming brand making the biggest impact in professional haircare right now.

What’s inside — and why it’s there
The ingredients worth knowing.
- What distinguishes this masque from the rest of Mirror Gloss is that its shine is partly literal rather than purely optical. Synthetic Fluorphlogopite is a lab-grown mica and CI 77891 is titanium dioxide - platelet mineral particles that deposit on the hair surface and reflect incident light directly, the same principle used in illuminating skincare. Neither appears in the Mirror Gloss Shampoo, Conditioner or Rinse Treatment. Supporting them, Dimethicone at position three and Dimethiconol create the flat, continuous surface the platelets align on, while Shea Butter fills roughened cuticle scales. Fiber-Filling Technology contributes Hydrolyzed Quinoa and Salvia Hispanica seed extract. Note this formula uses sunflower seed extract rather than the seed oil used in the shampoo and conditioner.

How to use
Use it the way we would.
- Wash with Mirror Gloss Shampoo, then towel-dry until damp rather than dripping.
- Apply from mid-lengths to ends and leave five to ten minutes.
- Rinse until the water runs completely clear, then follow with Mirror Gloss Conditioner.
Moda stylist tipRinse until the water runs completely clear. Because there are mineral reflectors in this formula, under-rinsing leaves a faint haze that reads as dullness or a chalky cast in daylight - the opposite of what you bought it for. Run your fingers through a section under the water; if it still feels slippery, keep going.

Questions? We get them.
Good to know.
The questions we hear most about this product. If yours isn’t here, a real stylist will answer.
Ask ModaThere is mica and titanium dioxide in this. Will it leave glitter or residue in my hair?
No, not if you rinse properly. The particles are microscopic platelets, not visible glitter, and most rinse away leaving a thin reflective deposit. Under-rinsing is the only way to get a chalky look, so keep going until the water runs completely clear and hair no longer feels slippery.
Why would I buy this if I already use the Mirror Gloss Conditioner every wash?
Yes, there is a genuine reason. This masque contains synthetic mica and titanium dioxide, which the conditioner does not, plus shea butter sixth on the list. They are designed to be used together weekly - masque first for five to ten minutes, then conditioner to seal.
I am blonde. Could the titanium dioxide make my hair look dull or white-cast?
No, not at this level or with a proper rinse. Titanium dioxide sits last on the ingredient list, used as a reflector rather than an opacifier at strength. A white cast only appears if the product is left in or badly under-rinsed. Rinse until the water runs clear and blonde reads brighter, not chalkier.
How far ahead of an event should I use this for the best shine?
Yes, timing helps: use it the day before rather than the morning of. Hair settles overnight and the smoothing reads more natural once it has been slept on and brushed out. Maria Nila states up to four days of shine and anti-frizz, so a day-before treatment is comfortably within the window.
Can I use this on hair extensions or a weave?
Yes on the hair itself, but keep it well away from bonds, tapes or wefts. The silicone and butter content is exactly what loosens adhesive attachments over time. Apply from mid-length down, at least an inch clear of any attachment point, and check with whoever fitted them first.
