The ingredient that separates this from every other heat spray is hydrolysed pea protein PG-propyl silanetriol. An ordinary hydrolysed protein sits on the hair by charge attraction and rinses off at the next wash. Adding a silanetriol group gives the peptide silanol functionality that can condense onto the fibre surface, so it stays and reinforces eroded cuticle. Panthenol restores flexibility, behentrimonium chloride cuts the combing friction that breaks damaged hair, and a light silicone film does the thermal shielding.

Ask ModaIt says it rebuilds damaged hair. What does that actually mean in practice?
Yes, there is a real mechanism behind it. The pea protein carries a silanetriol group, which lets the peptide condense onto the keratin surface instead of just adsorbing to it. That gives durable attachment, so it bridges eroded cuticle areas and stays there through washing.
A cream-based spray sounds heavy. Will it grease up my hair before I dry it?
No, on medium to thick hair. Cyclomethicone is volatile and evaporates after spreading the formula, so what remains is a thin film rather than a coating. On genuinely fine hair it is more substance than needed, and Quick Dry Heat Spray is the better pick.
Can I use it as a leave-in on days I am not heat styling at all?
Yes. The protein, panthenol and behentrimonium chloride all work on air-dried hair exactly as they do under a dryer, improving moisture and cutting combing friction. Maria Nila positions it as a heat protectant, but nothing in it requires heat to function.
It contains silicones. Will they build up on my hair over time?
No, not meaningfully. The bulk of the silicone here is cyclomethicone, which is volatile and evaporates after application. The remaining dimethicone PEG-8 meadowfoamate is PEG-modified, which makes it water-dispersible and far easier to rinse than a plain dimethicone.
My hair is damaged but my blow-dry takes forever. Do I pick this or Quick Dry?
Yes, pick this one if the damage is already there. Quick Dry shortens drying time but only shields; this repairs as well. If dry time is genuinely the bigger issue, use Quick Dry on the lengths and this on the last third where the porosity is highest.
