Yes, it is the only one, and the formula explains why. Its barrier is a hairspray-type resin film rather than a water-based cream, so it sets on dry hair without needing a drying process. The other two work with the blow-dry and go on damp.
Hold is 2 out of 5. Can this replace my hairspray, or do I still need both?
Yes for a light, natural finish. The resin system is genuinely a flexible hairspray base, so at hold 2 out of 5 it will keep a smooth style in place. For a firmly fixed set it is not strong enough, and Maria Nila Power Powder at hold 4 out of 5 handles root structure.
Do I really have to comb it through, or can I just spray and start ironing?
Yes, comb it. An aerosol deposits droplets, leaving protected spots with bare hair between them, and those gaps take the full heat load under a plate. Maria Nila builds the combing step into the directions because it is what turns scattered droplets into one continuous film.
My hair is full of static all winter. Will this make it better or worse?
Yes, better. Maria Nila states it reduces frizz and static, and the octylacrylamide copolymer is a humidity-resistant resin. The film it leaves holds set hydrogen bonds in place and stops individual strands swelling and lifting out of line as indoor air dries the hair.
What are squalane and glycerin doing in a heat protectant?
