Ask ModaHow is OI Hair Butter different from OI Conditioner — do I need both?
They serve different roles. The Conditioner is a fast daily rinse-out for quick detangling and light frizz control. The Hair Butter is a weekly deep treatment that needs 5–30 minutes. Most clients with dry or frizz-prone hair benefit from both: Conditioner daily, Hair Butter once a week.
Is OI Hair Butter too heavy for fine hair?
OI Hair Butter can work on fine hair if applied strictly to mid-lengths and ends — never roots — and rinsed thoroughly. Five minutes is the right processing time for finer textures. If you find it heavy, the OI Conditioner is the better daily option.
Can I leave OI Hair Butter on longer than 30 minutes for a deeper result?
Leaving it on beyond 30 minutes does not significantly increase penetration — the active uptake is largely complete by then. For a deeper result, apply to damp hair, cover with a shower cap to add warmth, and use the full 30 minutes. Warmth is more effective than extra time.
Does OI Hair Butter work as a leave-in?
OI Hair Butter is designed as a rinse-out treatment and should be fully rinsed. A very small amount can be smoothed on dry ends as a finishing touch, but OI All In One Milk is the right choice if you want a leave-in.
How long will the 200ml OI Hair Butter last with weekly use?
At 30–50ml per application for shoulder-length hair, a 200ml jar gives approximately 4–6 weekly treatments — about one to one and a half months. For longer or thicker hair, closer to one month.
