Ask ModaWhat is a co-wash and why should I use it instead of shampoo?
A co-wash is a conditioning-based cleanser that removes everyday scalp residue without the strong surfactants that strip natural oils. Curly and wavy hair depends on those oils for moisture retention and pattern definition. Co-washing more frequently and shampooing less often is the approach that keeps curls cleaner without making them dry.
How often should I use Heads Will Roll?
As often as you need to wash your hair — whether that is every other day or three times a week. Use Springsclean once a week or every two weeks to reset, and Heads Will Roll for all other washes.
Will my scalp actually feel clean after using a co-wash?
For most curl clients, yes. Heads Will Roll cleanses everyday scalp oil and light product residue effectively. If you have a very oily scalp or use very heavy curl products, the weekly Springsclean is essential to prevent buildup. Some clients with oily scalps also massage the Heads Will Roll more vigorously and leave it longer, which improves the cleansing result.
Do I still need to condition after using Heads Will Roll?
For most wavy clients and many curly clients, Heads Will Roll provides enough conditioning on its own for a regular co-wash day. On Springsclean days, always follow with a conditioner or Baby Got Bounce treatment before styling.
Which size should I buy?
The 30 ml for a trial. The 300 ml for regular use — at three washes a week it lasts four to six weeks. The 1000 ml is for frequent washers or those with long, thick hair who use a generous amount each application.
