No — Kevin Murphy specifically formulated Fresh Hair to avoid leaving white residue. The Silica absorbs oil without depositing visible powder. Shake thoroughly before use and spray from a distance of approximately 30 cm to ensure even distribution. Brush through after to fully disperse.
Is Fresh Hair different from Doo Over, or do they do the same thing?
No — different purposes. Fresh Hair is an aerosol dry shampoo that absorbs oil, removes odours and adds body — oil absorption is the primary function. Doo Over is a dry texture spray focused on texture, separation and movement, with oil absorption as a secondary benefit. For oily roots, Fresh Hair. For texture and second-day finish, Doo Over.
Can I use Fresh Hair if I have fine hair, or will it make my hair look flat?
Yes — Fresh Hair is actually particularly well suited to fine hair because the Silica absorbs oil at the root and the formula adds body and volume at the same time. Use one light pass from 25–30 cm on fine hair at the roots, brush through and the hair looks lifted rather than flat.
Should I use Fresh Hair before or after styling my hair?
Yes — before is the best approach for second-day hair. Apply Fresh Hair first to remove oil and refresh the roots, then style as desired. Applying before bed is Kevin Murphy’s backstage technique — the Silica absorbs oil overnight and you brush it out in the morning for genuinely fresh-looking hair.
How far away should I hold the can when spraying Fresh Hair?
Yes — distance matters. Hold approximately 25–30 cm from the hair and spray in short bursts at the roots. Holding too close creates concentrated product in spots that can look white and powdery. From a distance, the Silica distributes as an invisible cloud and absorbs into the root without any residue.
