How to use
Use it the way we would.
- Shampoo and towel-dry.
- Wear gloves. Apply with a brush, distributing evenly and combing through to the ends.
- Leave on 10-20 minutes depending on desired correction.
- Emulsify, then rinse thoroughly.
- Colour deposit fades out completely after about 6 washes.
Moda stylist tipBlue is a strong pigment. On very light blonde, 5 minutes maximum on first use. On mid-blonde to light brown, 8–10 minutes is safe. Always towel-dry first — wet hair dilutes the pigment and causes uneven results.

Ask ModaI've been using purple shampoo for months and my hair is still brassy. Could Blue Marine Mask be what I actually need?
Very likely, yes. Purple shampoo only corrects yellow — it's formulated for that specific problem. If your brassiness is orange-toned rather than yellow, purple does nothing. Blue sits opposite orange on the colour wheel and corrects it directly. Check your brassiness in natural light: yellow is pale and golden; orange is warm and copper-toned.
I have highlighted hair with orange roots and yellow ends. What should I use?
Use both — in the same session, divided by section. Apply Blue Marine to your roots where the brassiness is orange, and Earth Moon Mask to your highlighted ends where the tone is more yellow. Process both at the same time for 8–10 minutes, then rinse. This is exactly how we approach mixed brassiness at the backbar.
Can Blue Marine Mask turn my hair green? I've heard blue products can do that.
The risk exists on very light, very porous hair (think bleached platinum) if left on too long. On mid-blonde to light brown hair, 8–10 minutes is perfectly safe. On very light hair, start at 5 minutes and assess. The mineral pigment formula is designed to deposit correction, not saturation — follow the timing guidance and it won't shift green.
How is Blue Marine Mask different from Earth Moon Mask? Which one is for my orange brassiness?
Earth Moon is purple — it corrects yellow. Blue Marine is blue — it corrects orange. They work on different parts of the colour wheel. If your brassiness is pale golden-yellow, Earth Moon. If it's warm, copper-toned orange, Blue Marine. If you're dealing with both in different parts of your hair, you can use both in one session, divided by section.
How often should I use RICA Cromearth Blue Marine Mask to manage my brassiness?
Once a week is enough for most clients. If your brassiness is persistent, use it weekly for the first 3–4 weeks to build correction, then drop to every other week for maintenance. Pair with the Natural Shampoo on regular wash days to keep the hair clean without adding any warmth.
