No. The fixative polymer system in No. 304 is formulated to dry clear and stay clear — it doesn't flake or create a white residue. Flaking in gels typically occurs with cheap polymer systems or when product is over-applied. No. 304 applied in the right quantity to pre-styled hair dries with a consistent, clean finish.
I need my style to survive a full workday and a gym session. Is No. 304 strong enough?
Yes. No. 304 is the strongest hold in the DEPOT® styling range — the fixative polymers create a lasting support structure that maintains the style under most conditions. For very high humidity or sweat exposure, applying to thoroughly towel-dried hair gives the polymer system the best conditions to set and hold.
Can I apply No. 304 to dry hair or does it only work on wet or damp hair?
Both work but the result differs. On damp hair, No. 304 distributes easily and gives a sleek, set result when dried. On dry hair, it delivers more immediate hold and works better for adding definition to a style already in place. Choose based on the finish you want.
How do I remove No. 304 at the end of the day? Do I need a specific shampoo?
No special shampoo is required — No. 304 washes out thoroughly with one application of No. 101 Normalizing Daily Shampoo. The polymer system is water-soluble and designed for clean removal without leaving residue. DEPOT® specifically recommends No. 101 for clients who use styling gel regularly.
I have a thick side part I'm trying to hold flat all day. Will No. 304 do that?
Yes — a firm, flat side part is exactly what No. 304 is built for. Apply to damp hair before blow-drying in the desired direction, then add a small amount to dry hair to lock the part in place. The fixative polymer system sets as the hair dries and maintains direction and flatness with consistent hold through the day.
