Why we like it
The Moda Team Review
It is unapologetically silicone-forward, with dimethicone third on the list, and that is exactly why the shine is immediate and holds for days. Underneath it there is real conditioning chemistry - quinoa and chia peptides plus a ceramide-like lipid - so the finish is not sitting on an empty formula. On medium to thick hair it is one of the most effective smoothing conditioners we stock.

Maria Nila is a Swedish line we brought in as a new brand, chosen with our younger clients in mind and because the range is genuinely playful - Mirror Gloss is the family that shows that most clearly. Every formula is 100% vegan with no animal ingredients or animal testing, the company is B Corp certified, and the packaging is CO2-compensated. Our honest read is that this is the up-and-coming brand making the biggest impact in professional haircare right now.
Moda
What’s inside — and why it’s there
The ingredients worth knowing.
- Dimethicone at position three is the defining feature of this formula. Silicones fill the spaces between cuticle scales and form a continuous optical surface, which is what produces specular reflection rather than diffuse scatter - no plant oil replicates that in a rinse-out product. Dimethiconol and the Amodimethicone copolymer extend the effect and improve rinse-resistance. Beneath that, Maria Nila's Fiber-Filling Technology contributes Hydrolyzed Quinoa and Salvia Hispanica seed extract as peptide fillers, with Phytosteryl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate acting as a ceramide-like lipid. Colour Guard Complex is carried by Quaternium-95 and sunflower seed oil, with Tocopherol as antioxidant. The trade-off of this silicone level is weight, which is significant on fine hair.

How to use
Use it the way we would.
- Wash with Mirror Gloss Shampoo and squeeze out excess water.
- Apply to the under-layers first, then the top, through lengths and ends.
- Leave one to two minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cool water.
Moda stylist tipApply to the underneath layers first, then the top. The hair at the nape tangles most and gets conditioned least, because people coat the outer canopy and run out before reaching it. Lift the top layer, work it into the under-section, then use what is left on the top - the canopy needs the least to look glossy.

Questions? We get them.
Good to know.
The questions we hear most about this product. If yours isn’t here, a real stylist will answer.
Ask ModaDimethicone is the third ingredient. Will that build up on my hair over time?
Yes, it can if you never clarify. Dimethicone is not water-soluble, so on frequent use it layers up and eventually reads heavy rather than glossy. Use a clarifying wash such as Purifying Cleanse Shampoo every few weeks and the problem disappears. The pay-off is shine no plant oil matches in a rinse-out.
Should I buy this or the Mirror Gloss Rinse Treatment? They both sound like shine steps.
Yes, they overlap, and hair type decides it. This is richer and silicone-heavy, ideal for medium to thick hair. The Rinse Treatment carries the same quinoa and chia actives in a weightless alcohol-and-glycol base, built for fine hair. Thick hair here; fine hair there.
I have keratin-treated hair. Is this conditioner safe to use on it?
Yes. There are no sulphates or harsh cleansing agents here, which is what typically shortens a smoothing treatment. Conditioners do not strip keratin services. The shampoo you pair it with matters far more, and Mirror Gloss Shampoo is sulphate-free, so the routine works well together.
Maria Nila claims 3x smoother hair. Does that come from this conditioner alone?
No. Maria Nila states that figure for the full Mirror Gloss routine, not for any single product. This conditioner contributes the sealing step and delivers clear smoothing on its own, but the published claim assumes shampoo plus a treatment plus conditioner used together.
Will this add shine to grey hair, which tends to look coarse and dull?
Yes. Grey hair is often wirier and has a rougher cuticle, which is exactly the surface problem this formula addresses, and the silicone level suits its coarser texture well. It adds no pigment, so if your grey is also yellowing you would want Sheer Silver alongside it for tone.
