Shea butter sits fourth on the ingredient list, ahead of the algae - this is a genuinely rich treatment rather than a conditioner in a tub. Repairing algae, moringa oil and a set of free fatty acids replace the lipid layer bleach strips out first. It is the heaviest rinse-out step in the Structure Repair range and the one we would send home with a client whose ends have stopped responding.

The ingredients worth knowing.
- Shea butter at position four supplies triglycerides and unsaponifiables that settle on and between the cuticle scales, lowering the surface friction that drives mechanical breakage. The free fatty acid trio - linolenic, linoleic and oleic - substitutes for the 18-MEA and internal lipids that oxidative colour removes first, which is why very porous hair feels so different after a rich masque than after a fast conditioner. Cystoseira Compressa carries Maria Nila's stated rebuilding and moisture-holding claim; bamboo leaf extract and hydrolysed vegetable protein PG-propyl silanetriol round out the substantive fraction. Stearamidopropyl dimethylamine and behentrimonium chloride handle deposition and detangling. Contains dimethicone and dimethiconol - no silicone-free claim is made.

Moda stylist tipHeat and compression beat time. Apply to towel-dried hair, comb through, twist the lengths up and cover with a shower cap or warm towel for the full ten minutes. Trapped body heat lifts the cuticle slightly so the oils and fatty acids travel further in. Five minutes with a cap beats fifteen without one.

Ask ModaMaria Nila says I can use this daily. Should I actually be doing that?
No, not for most people. Maria Nila states the Structure Repair products can be used daily, but shea butter sits fourth in this formula. Once or twice a week is the right rhythm for the majority of hair types. Daily makes sense only on very coarse, very dry or heavily bleached hair.
Do I still need the conditioner if I am using the masque?
Yes. Maria Nila's own directions are masque first, then conditioner - the masque loads the fibre and the conditioner closes it down and gives you the detangling slip for combing out. If you want to run one product instead of two, the Structure Repair Booster Masque is built to replace both.
I have bleached hair that absorbs everything and still looks dull. Will this show up?
Yes, and porous hair is where a rich masque reads most clearly. Bleaching removes the internal lipids first; the shea butter and the linolenic, linoleic and oleic acids here substitute directly for that missing fraction. Comb it through and use a cap for ten minutes to get the full effect.
How is this different from the Structure Repair Booster Masque at a third of the price?
Yes, they are genuinely different products. This is a 250ml rich shea-based masque used before conditioner for five to ten minutes. The Booster Masque is a concentrated 50ml three-minute treatment Maria Nila states replaces both mask and conditioner, with ten times the active ingredients of their standard masks.
I just had a balayage. Is it too soon to use a masque this rich?
No, it is not too soon - freshly lightened hair is exactly when the lipid replacement matters most. The formula carries Colour Guard Complex, which Maria Nila states preserves colour against UV radiation and free radicals, and it holds no pigment of its own, so it will not shift your toner.
