The ingredients worth knowing.
- Cystoseira Compressa Extract is the brown algae active running through every Structure Repair formula; Maria Nila credits it with rebuilding the hair and holding moisture in. Hydrolysed wheat protein is cut into fragments small enough to occupy the porous gaps left by bleach and heat, which is why the brand ties it to long-lasting conditioning rather than surface slip. Colour Guard Complex pairs sunflower seed oil with Quaternium-95, a cationic conditioning agent that deposits on damaged, negatively charged sites; Maria Nila states the pairing preserves colour by protecting hair from UV radiation and free radicals. The surfactant base leads with sodium lauroyl methyl isethionate and cocamidopropyl betaine for a low-strip lather - note that Maria Nila does not claim this shampoo is sulfate-free.

How to use
Use it the way we would.
- Apply to wet hair and massage gently through hair and scalp.

Moda stylist tipEmulsify between wet palms first, then shampoo the scalp only and let the suds rinse down through the lengths. Damaged ends are already porous, and scrubbing shampoo straight into them roughs the cuticle further. Maria Nila calls for a second application - keep that one on the scalp.

Ask ModaIs Structure Repair Shampoo sulfate-free like most repair shampoos?
No. Maria Nila does not claim this shampoo is sulfate-free and we will not pretend otherwise. It leads with sodium lauroyl methyl isethionate and cocamidopropyl betaine for a soft, low-strip lather, plus two milder sulfosuccinate and sulfoacetate cleansers. It is gentle and colour-safe, but if strictly sulfate-free is a requirement, the Coils & Curls Co-Wash is.
I already use the Structure Repair Masque. Do I really need the matching shampoo?
Yes, if your current shampoo is stripping. A masque can only rebuild what the cleanse has not just undone. This shampoo uses the same Cystoseira Compressa algae and Colour Guard Complex as the masque, so the two work on the same chemistry instead of pulling in opposite directions.
It comes in 100ml, 350ml and a litre. Which size makes sense first?
Yes, start with the 350ml unless you are travelling. The 100ml is a carry-on size, not a fair trial of a repair routine. Move to the litre once you know the line suits you - it is the better value per wash and most clients who commit to Structure Repair end up there.
Will this shampoo pull my toner out faster on freshly bleached blonde?
No. Maria Nila builds Colour Guard Complex into this formula - sunflower oil and Quaternium-95 - and states it preserves the colour by protecting hair from UV radiation and free radicals. It carries no toning pigment, so it will not deposit either. If brassiness is your real concern, pair it with Sheer Silver Masque.
My hair barely lathers with this. Is it actually cleaning?
Yes. Lather volume tracks the surfactant system and how much oil and product is on the hair, not cleaning power. A first pass on very dirty hair will foam less; the second application Maria Nila recommends will foam noticeably more. If it never lathers, you are using too little water, not too little product.
