Hold 15–20 cm from the roots — not closer. Spray in thin, even passes and then wait 30 full seconds before massaging in. That pause is not optional: it gives the starch time to absorb the oil before it is disturbed. Massaging immediately after spraying drags the wet oil around rather than absorbing it and creates a matted, product-heavy result rather than a fresh one.
