Matte top coats fail when the application is uneven — you get streaks, gaps, or a patchy finish that looks like the base dried out rather than a deliberate matte. The Matte Velvet Top Coat, combined with the Z-Wide Brush it ships with, solves the application problem: the wide brush covers the nail in fewer strokes, which reduces streaking and produces a more consistent, uniform matte surface.

The critical instruction: base polish must be completely dry before applying. Not dry to the touch — actually dry. Applying matte top coat over wet or tacky polish causes gaps and separation of the layers. Let the base coat dry fully, then apply Matte Velvet.

How To Use

  1. Allow base nail polish to dry completely before applying.
  2. Apply one coat of Matte Velvet Top Coat using the included Z-Wide Brush.
  3. Allow to dry fully without Fast Drops — Fast Drops may affect the matte finish.

Use Zoya Matte Velvet Top Coat as the final layer over the appropriate Zoya base, colour or Naked Manicure steps. The exact finish depends on the product, but thin even coats are the key.
A good top coat helps protect the layers underneath and can support better wear, especially when your base and colour have been applied thinly and cleanly.
Use thin coats, avoid shaking the bottle, and do not overwork the brush. If the formula is bi-phasal, roll it gently between your hands before applying.
Pair it with the Zoya base or Naked Manicure perfector that matches your routine, then use Fast Drops if you want to speed up drying time.
