Why we like it

The Moda Team Review

This is the treatment we finish in-salon bleach services with and send home with clients whose blonde is showing structural damage — porous, snapping at the ends, not holding shine. The Biacidic Bond Complex at treatment concentration, with full contact time, does structural work that a rinse-out conditioner cannot. We've seen the difference on clients who use it consistently.

The client whose blonde has been highlighted every 6 weeks for three years. Her mid-lengths feel fine but her ends are dry, porous, and losing elasticity. She's using conditioner every wash but it's not keeping up anymore. This is the treatment we recommend — weekly, on towel-dried lengths and ends, full contact time. Within 4–6 weeks the ends hold moisture differently. Davines is a family-owned Italian haircare brand founded in Parma in 1983. We chose them because their commitment to sustainable farming practices aligned with ours as parents — and because they invest in stylist education the way we do at Moda. We are a Platinum Davines salon and have trained with them every year, including at their headquarters in Parma, Italy.

What’s inside — and why it’s there

The ingredients worth knowing.

  • Higher-concentration Biacidic Bond Complex than the Rich Conditioner — targets disrupted disulfide bonds from bleaching and oxidative colour. 5–10 minutes contact time required for the bond complex to work. Jagua Blue Extract provides tonal balancing. Vegan.

How to use

Use it the way we would.

  1. After shampooing, remove excess water from hair. Apply to towel-dried lengths and ends — avoid roots. Leave on 5–10 minutes. For deeper penetration, comb through and apply a processing cap. Rinse thoroughly. Use weekly or as needed in place of or alongside the Rich Conditioner.

Moda stylist tipApply to towel-dried hair, not wet hair — excess water dilutes the treatment. Leave the full 5–10 minutes; this is not the step to rush. For very porous or heavily bleached hair, clip up and apply a processing cap for the first few uses to ensure even penetration throughout the cortex.

Ask Moda
What is the difference between this and the HOG Rich Conditioner?

The Rich Conditioner is the everyday step — used every wash, rinse after 5 minutes. The Intense Treatment is a weekly deep repair mask with a higher Biacidic Bond Complex concentration and a longer contact time (5–10 minutes). Use the Conditioner on regular wash days; use the Treatment on days when blonde hair is feeling especially dry, porous, or fatigued.

Does the Intense Treatment need to be left on longer than 5 minutes to work?

Yes — for maximum bond repair, 10 minutes is better than 5 on significantly damaged hair. The Biacidic Bond Complex needs contact time to act on disrupted bonds within the cortex. Apply to towel-dried (not wet) hair, comb through, and let it sit the full time before rinsing. Rushing the rinse is the most common reason clients don't feel the full result.

Can I use the Intense Treatment every wash instead of just weekly?

Yes — it's safe to use every wash. We typically recommend weekly because the Rich Conditioner is effective for regular maintenance and both products together can be heavy on fine hair used daily. For heavily bleached or very porous hair, more frequent use of the Treatment is fine and often recommended.

Should I use the Intense Treatment before or after the Rich Conditioner?

Either order works — both are rinse-out products. Davines recommends using the Treatment first and following with the Conditioner if hair is very dry or needs extra softening. For most people on a weekly treatment schedule, using the Treatment alone (without the Conditioner on treatment days) is sufficient.

Is the 750ml pro size worth it for home use?

Yes — for clients using this weekly on medium to long hair, the 750ml is significantly better value per wash. A weekly treatment on longer hair uses more product than a daily conditioner application. At that frequency, the 750ml typically lasts 12–16 weeks depending on hair length and density.
