Complete Your Routine

Pair it with salon-approved favourites that work beautifully together.

Description

The foundational two-step PLUMPING routine in one set — a densifying shampoo and conditioner that work together at the follicle and shaft to build real density over time for fine and thinning hair.

This set includes:

  • Kevin Murphy Plumping Wash (250 ml) — a sulphate-free densifying shampoo with Oleanolic Acid, Tripeptide Complex, Ginger Root and Nettle that works at the follicle to promote a longer growing phase and stimulate scalp circulation.
  • Kevin Murphy Plumping Rinse (250 ml) — a densifying conditioner with Rice Amino Acids and Shea Butter that physically expands the hair shaft diameter while continuing follicle invigoration through the conditioning step.

The Moda Team Review

There is a meaningful difference between fine hair and thinning hair — and between the products built for each. The ANGEL line is the volume routine for fine hair that wants more body and softness. The PLUMPING line is the density routine for hair that is actually losing ground: more in the drain, less at the crown, a ponytail that has quietly shrunk over the last year or two. The distinction matters because the active systems are completely different.

Plumping Wash leads with Oleanolic Acid and a tripeptide complex that promotes a longer growing phase at the follicle. Ginger Root and Nettle stimulate circulation and fortify the strand. Plumping Rinse follows with Rice Amino Acids that physically expand the diameter of each individual hair shaft. Scalp invigoration continues through the conditioner step because the formula does not abandon follicle-active ingredients the way most conditioners do. These two products are designed to work as a pair and the cumulative results are meaningfully better when both steps are in place every wash day.

As a White Haven Kevin Murphy salon — the highest status Kevin Murphy awards — we have trained in this regimen and recommended it to real clients with real density concerns. The results we see at 8 to 12 weeks of consistent daily use are what keep this set in the routine conversation.

Why Moda Carries This

Kevin Murphy built the PLUMPING system on a skincare philosophy: serious actives at the follicle, not just volumising polymers on the surface. Moda carries it because our client base includes women in their 30s, 40s and beyond whose hair has changed — and who deserve an honest answer about what can actually help. This duo is that answer for the cleanse and condition steps.

Moda Pro Tip

The 60-second scalp massage with Plumping Wash is not optional — Ginger Root and Nettle are circulation activators that need mechanical stimulation to work. Apply Plumping Rinse from mid-lengths to ends only and rinse with cool water to close the cuticle and preserve volume. For the complete routine, follow with Body Mass at the root before blow-drying.

Not the Right Fit If...

If your concern is dryness or damage rather than density, start with the Hydrate Me Wash and Rinse Duo or Repair Me Wash and Rinse Duo instead. PLUMPING prioritises follicle stimulation and shaft expansion — for significantly dry or damaged ends, a moisture or repair system will serve you better.

How To Use

  1. Apply Plumping Wash to wet hair and massage firmly into the scalp for 60 seconds minimum.
  2. Work through lengths and rinse thoroughly.
  3. Apply Plumping Rinse from mid-lengths to ends only — keep off root and scalp.
  4. Leave 1 to 2 minutes, then rinse with cool water.
  5. Follow with Body Mass at the root on wet hair before blow-drying for the complete PLUMPING routine.
COMMON QUESTIONS

Product FAQ

ANGEL is for fine hair that wants more volume and softness. PLUMPING is for hair that is genuinely thinning or losing density over time. The active ingredients are completely different — PLUMPING has tripeptides and Oleanolic Acid that work at the follicle to promote a longer growing phase, which ANGEL does not. If you are noticing more hair in the drain or less density over time, PLUMPING is the right system.
Start with this 250 ml duo if you have not used the PLUMPING line before — it gives you 6 to 8 weeks to confirm the system works for your hair before committing to the litre. If you already know you love it, the Pro Duo offers the best value per wash.
This duo is a complete daily cleanse-and-condition routine on its own. Body Mass adds the third step — root volume and density support through the blow-dry. You will see results from the duo alone, but the complete three-step routine delivers noticeably more at the crown.
Most clients with shoulder-length hair get 6 to 8 weeks from each 250 ml bottle with daily use. The Rinse typically lasts slightly longer because it is applied mid-lengths to ends only, not through the root. Both products are used daily for best cumulative results.
Yes. The PLUMPING duo is sulphate-free and does not interfere with bond-building treatments. The follicle and shaft-level actives work independently of bond repair and the two approaches can be used together. If you are unsure about your specific treatment, ask your Moda stylist at hello@modasalon.ca.
