How to use

Ask ModaIs Nº.5 CURL significantly different from regular Nº.5 for curly hair?
Yes — Nº.5 CURL is formulated with a richer moisture profile and curl-specific conditioning agents designed for the higher porosity and moisture needs of wavy to coily hair. Standard Nº.5 works on all types but isn't optimised for curl definition and the frizz concerns specific to textured hair.
Should I apply Nº.5 CURL all the way to my roots?
No — apply from mid-lengths to ends. Even curly hair benefits from keeping conditioner off the scalp — applying at the root adds weight that can pull the curl pattern down and contribute to scalp buildup over time.
Can I detangle my curls with Nº.5 CURL in the shower?
Yes — applying Nº.5 CURL and detangling with fingers or a wide-tooth comb while it's on the hair is an effective wash-day technique for curly hair. The conditioner's slip makes detangling easier and reduces breakage compared to detangling dry.
My curly hair is also bleached. Should I be using Nº.5 CURL or would Nº.8 mask be better?
Yes — both serve different purposes. Nº.5 CURL is the daily rinse-out conditioner. Nº.8 or a curl-appropriate mask is a weekly deep treatment step. Bleached curly hair benefits from both: daily conditioning with Nº.5 CURL and a weekly mask for additional moisture and repair.
Does Nº.5 CURL work for wavy hair, or is it too rich?
Yes — Nº.5 CURL is appropriate for wavy hair, though the response depends on density and porosity. Fine wavy hair may find it heavy; coarser wavy hair typically responds well. If weight is a concern, apply to ends only and rinse thoroughly.
