Kevin Murphy Blonde Angel Wash
A lavender-toning shampoo for blonde, highlighted and grey hair — brighter tone, softer feel, without the dryness that purple shampoos are famous for.
The Moda Team Review: The Purple Shampoo That Actually Conditions
Most of our blonde clients have a complicated relationship with purple shampoo. They need it because the warmth creeps in, but they hate how dry and rough their hair feels afterwards. We heard this complaint so many times that it became one of the first questions we asked when we were looking at Kevin Murphy's blonde range.
Blonde Angel Wash is built differently. The violet pigments do the toning work, but the formula is still built on the Kevin Murphy skincare-for-hair philosophy — so it conditions while it cleanses. Blonde, highlighted or grey hair comes out looking fresher and cooler, but it does not feel stripped. For fine colour-treated blondes especially, that balance matters.
Why Our Stylists Recommend It
We would point you to Blonde Angel Wash if your blonde looks great leaving the salon but shifts warm or dull before your next appointment. Think natural blondes, balayage clients, highlights, grey hair going brassy — any situation where tone maintenance between visits is the ongoing challenge. It is also a strong option when your ends are porous and pulling tone faster than the roots. Pair it with Blonde Angel (the matching toning conditioner) for best results, or alternate with Angel Wash if your hair is fine and you do not want to tone every wash.
How We Use It
Apply to wet hair, work into scalp, leave it on for 1 to 3 minutes (longer for more toning, shorter if your hair is very porous and grabs fast), then rinse thoroughly. On fine hair, alternate with Angel Wash rather than using every wash — fine porous hair can overtone faster than coarser hair. Follow with Blonde Angel conditioner on mid-lengths and ends. For extra brightness after styling, Shimmer Me Blonde finish spray completes the routine.
Moda Stylist Tip
Watch your ends. Porous, bleached ends absorb pigment faster than less-processed roots. If you have significant variance in your hair's porosity — bright ends, more natural roots — apply at the root first, pull through to the ends, and rinse before the ends have had the full contact time. This is the technique for keeping tone even instead of purple at the tips.
Key Ingredients
Violet Pigment: Deposits cool tone during cleansing to counteract warmth and brassiness.
Lavender Extract: Conditions while it tones — reduces the dryness most violet shampoos cause.
Sunflower Extract: Antioxidant protection and softness.
Vitamin E: Additional antioxidant support for colour longevity.
Is This Right for You?
Not right if: your blonde is very new or freshly toned to an ash — you may not need pigment correction yet. Not right if: your hair is severely dry and in need of repair first — Repair Me Wash or Hydrate Me Wash is a better priority before adding toning. Not right if: you want volume over toning — Angel Wash is the better starting point for fine hair that prioritises body.
Build Your Routine
Pair with Blonde Angel conditioner on mid-lengths and ends. Add Shimmer Me Blonde after styling for an extra brightness boost between washes. Alternate with Angel Wash if your hair is fine and you do not want to tone every single wash day.
