Ask ModaWhat does Nº.9 actually do that my regular heat protectant doesn't?
Yes — in addition to heat protection, Nº.9 contains antioxidants that protect the hair from environmental damage (pollution, UV) alongside thermal damage. It also contains OLAPLEX bond-building technology, so it's maintaining structural support at the pre-styling step.
I use Nº.6 as my leave-in. Should I also add Nº.9?
No — Nº.6 already provides heat protection. Adding Nº.9 as well is over-layering for most hair types. Nº.9 is the better choice for fine hair that can't use Nº.6. If you're already using Nº.6 and it's working well, Nº.9 is not needed.
Is Nº.9 weightless enough for fine hair?
Yes — Nº.9 is one of the most lightweight options in the OLAPLEX range and is specifically suitable for fine hair. It provides heat and environmental protection without the moisture load that can flatten fine hair.
Do I apply Nº.9 to wet or dry hair?
Yes — apply to damp or towel-dried hair before heat styling. Work through mid-lengths to ends, then blow-dry or use heat tools as normal. Can also be applied to dry hair before tools if you've skipped it in the damp stage.
Can I use Nº.9 and Nº.7 together?
Yes — Nº.9 on damp hair pre-styling for protection, then Nº.7 on dry hair post-styling for shine. They work at different steps and complement each other well, particularly for fine hair where Nº.6 is too heavy.
