Ask ModaI have thick hair. Will a few drops of No. 202 actually be enough to make a difference?
Yes. No. 202 is a highly concentrated leave-in — even thick or long hair typically needs only 3–5 drops. The Silicone emollients distribute easily through towel-dried hair and the UV filter works throughout the drying and styling process. Start with a modest amount and add more only if the hair feels under-nourished.
Can I use No. 202 on my beard and my hair in the same application?
Yes. DEPOT® officially recommends No. 202 for both hair and beard. Apply a few drops to towel-dried hair as the styling prep step, then work one or two additional drops through the beard for softness and conditioning. The UV filter and conditioning agents benefit both.
I colour my hair. Will the UV filter in No. 202 actually protect my colour from fading?
Yes, to a meaningful extent. The UV filter in No. 202 is designed to protect hair from the lightening and dehydrating effects of the sun — the same UV mechanisms that cause colour fade. Consistent use significantly slows the process compared to leaving hair unprotected, though it doesn't eliminate fade entirely.
Will No. 202 make my hair feel greasy or product-loaded if I use it before my paste or wax?
No. The formula is designed as a pre-styling primer — the silicone emollients add manageability without greasiness and improve how styling products distribute through the hair. Most clients find their styling product goes further and holds better when used over No. 202.
Is No. 202 a heat protectant? I blow-dry every morning.
No. No. 202 is not specifically formulated as a heat protectant — it conditions and protects from UV, but doesn't contain silicones at a concentration designed to withstand high blow-dry heat. For heat protection during blow-drying, a dedicated heat protectant would be more appropriate alongside No. 202 as a conditioning primer.
