Ask ModaWhy does my current gel leave white flakes on my collar by the end of the day?
Flaking is caused by the polymer system in most drugstore gels breaking down over the day as the hair flexes and moves. The Firm Hold Gel uses a different polymer system specifically designed to hold without flaking. The water-soluble base also means no buildup accumulates in the hair over repeated uses.
Will Firm Hold Gel clog my follicles or cause scalp issues with daily use?
No — the lightweight water-soluble formula contains no petrolatum or mineral oil, which are the ingredients that clog follicles in conventional gels. It rinses completely clean with shampoo and does not accumulate at the scalp.
Wet or dry hair for application?
Damp hair for maximum hold — apply and blow-dry into shape. The heat sets the polymers as the hair dries and the finished style holds longer. Dry hair application gives immediate strong hold with slightly more flexibility before it fully sets.
I want high shine but not the full rigidity of gel. What should I choose?
Styling Mud is the medium-hold option with medium shine if full gel rigidity is too much. Firm Hold Gel is the right choice when the priority is maximum hold and high shine — if you want some flexibility, apply to dry hair rather than damp.
Is Firm Hold Gel safe for colour-treated hair?
Yes — colour-safe and sulphate-free. The water-soluble formula does not strip colour and the ProAmino Peptide Complex™ provides treatment benefits to colour-treated as well as natural hair.
