Curly hair needs significantly more conditioning slip and moisture at the detangling step than straight hair; standard conditioners often do not deliver enough for textured and coily patterns. Nº.5 CURL is formulated for that requirement: enough slip to detangle without breakage, enough moisture to hydrate porous curl structures, and the OLAPLEX bond-building technology working through the contact time. Use with Nº.4 CURL at the wash step and Nº.10 at the styling step for the complete curl-care OLAPLEX routine.

Apply generously to soaking wet hair and detangle section by section with a wide-tooth comb while the conditioner is in. Curly hair detangles best with significant slip and when fully saturated — rushing this step causes mechanical breakage that the OLAPLEX system is working to prevent.

  2. Detangle with a wide-tooth comb while the conditioner is in.
  3. Leave 3–5 minutes. Rinse.
  4. Follow with Nº.10 Bond Shaper Curl Gel for definition and hold.

No — apply from mid-lengths to ends. Even curly hair benefits from keeping conditioner off the scalp — applying at the root adds weight that can pull the curl pattern down and contribute to scalp buildup over time.
Yes — applying Nº.5 CURL and detangling with fingers or a wide-tooth comb while it's on the hair is an effective wash-day technique for curly hair. The conditioner's slip makes detangling easier and reduces breakage compared to detangling dry.
