The pre-reformulation MELU system — the version known as MELU Mellow Anti-Breakage Lustrous Shampoo and Conditioner. Both products use ROC Black Chickpea Extract (sourced from Mr. Gabriele Colla's farm in Parma, Italy) as the core anti-breakage active, with polysaccharides creating a protective film on the hair fibre and antioxidants preserving hair strength. The conditioner is a rich conditioning balm requiring 2–5 minutes contact time — apply to damp hair, leave 2–5 minutes, comb through, rinse thoroughly.
This is the formulation long-term MELU clients will recognise as the original longer-contact conditioner. It is being phased out as Davines transitions the full Essential Haircare range to the Essentials 2.0 format. Fewer than 50 units remaining — final stock.

The current MELU formula, updated as part of Davines' Essentials 2.0 reformulation programme. The hero ingredient remains ROC Black Chickpea Extract (same source: Mr. Gabriele Colla's farm, Parma, Italy) — the polysaccharides and antioxidants that create the anti-breakage protective film are unchanged. The significant change is in the conditioner: it is now a 30-second fast-acting formula — leave 30 seconds, comb through, rinse — rather than the 2–5 minute balm of the original. The conditioner also adds Villalba Lentil Seed Extract (Slow Food Presidium, sourced from Mr. Francesco Di Gesù's farm in Caltanissetta, Sicily) — rich in serine and glutamic acid amino acids that match keratin's structural components and add genuine repair at the condition step.

How To Use

MELU Shampoo (both formulations): Apply to wet hair. Massage from scalp through lengths, pressing gently — do not scrub the lengths. Rinse slowly and thoroughly. Repeat if needed.

MELU Conditioner — Original: Apply to damp hair from ends upward to mid-lengths. Leave 2–5 minutes. Comb through from ends upward. Rinse with cool water.
