How to use
Use it the way we would.
- IMPORTANT: Unlock the pump before inserting into the bottle — if inserted locked, the ring can fall inside.
- Remove cap from bottle.
- With pump still outside the bottle, hold the base and twist the nozzle counterclockwise until it pops up into the open position.
- Insert unlocked pump into the bottle and press firmly to seat.
- Prime with 3-5 pumps before first use.
- To lock for travel: twist nozzle clockwise back down.
Moda stylist tipWhen the litre bottle is running low and the pump tube can no longer reach the product, add a small amount of warm water, swirl gently, and pump out the last of the diluted product as a body wash or for hand washing delicates. Nothing goes to waste.

Yes, the pump ships locked — this is intentional for shipping. The step most people miss: unlock the pump before inserting it into the bottle. Hold the base firmly, then twist the nozzle counterclockwise. It will pop up into the dispensing position. Do this while the pump is still outside the bottle — if you insert it locked and try to twist inside the bottle, the locking ring can fall in and be very hard to retrieve. Which Davines bottles does this pump fit?
Yes, this pump fits OI Shampoo 1000ml, OI Conditioner 1000ml, and the full Essential Haircare 1L range including DEDE, MOMO, NOUNOU, MELU, MINU, LOVE CURL, LOVE SMOOTH, and other Essential Haircare litre sizes. It does not fit retail sizes (250ml, 280ml), 500ml bottles, or Naturaltech 1L bottles — Naturaltech uses a separate pump.
I pressed the pump and nothing came out. Is it broken?
No — it needs priming. The pump tube is empty on first install and needs 3–5 pumps to draw product up before it dispenses. This is normal on first use or after the pump has been stored dry and reinserted into a new bottle. If it still doesn't dispense after several pumps, confirm the nozzle is fully unlocked (twisted counterclockwise into the up position) and that the pump is seated firmly in the bottle neck.
Can I reuse the pump on a new bottle when the first one is empty?
Yes — the pump is designed to be reused across multiple bottles. When the bottle is empty, lock the nozzle by twisting clockwise, remove the pump, rinse thoroughly under warm water, and allow to dry completely before inserting into the next bottle. Davines specifically recommends reusing rather than discarding.
Do I need one pump per bottle, or can one pump serve both shampoo and conditioner?
You need one pump per bottle if you want both open at the same time. If you only buy one pump, you will need to move it between bottles each wash, which works but is less convenient. Most clients who buy both OI or Essential Haircare litre bottles in the same line add two pumps at checkout — one per bottle.
