Why we like it
The Moda Team Review
For thick, coarse, or very curly hair that over-dries with every shampoo wash — the Co-Wash purifies the scalp and hair with a gentle low-lather formula that does not strip the natural moisture that tight curl patterns depend on. Every third wash, alternate with LOVE CURL Shampoo to prevent scalp build-up.

The 3a/3b curl client who washes three times a week and notices her curls feel increasingly dry and brittle across the week. A full shampoo wash is stripping moisture faster than her conditioner can restore it. Switching to the Co-Wash for two of those three washes and shampoo only on the third — the curl retains moisture through the whole week and the dryness stops accumulating. How to use
Use it the way we would.
- Massage LOVE CURL Co-Wash into the scalp first, not the ends. Let the lather do the work at the root, then rinse through the lengths. If your hair has buildup, oil or styling product in it, shampoo twice before judging the result.
Moda stylist tipThe low-lather formula needs extra water to activate — ensure the hair is fully saturated before applying and keep adding water through the massage. Every third Co-Wash, replace with LOVE CURL Shampoo and Conditioner to clear any scalp build-up that a no-foam formula cannot lift on its own.

Questions? We get them.
Good to know.
The questions we hear most about this product. If yours isn’t here, a real stylist will answer.
Ask ModaIs Davines LOVE CURL Essential Haircare Co-Wash suitable for all curl types or only thick coarse hair?
The Co-Wash is most beneficial for thicker, coarser or very curly hair that gets stripped by regular shampoo. For finer or wavy curl types, the LOVE CURL Shampoo is a better fit for regular washing. The distinction is about curl density and moisture needs, not a hierarchy of curl type.
Does Davines LOVE CURL Essential Haircare Co-Wash actually cleanse the scalp effectively?
The Co-Wash cleanses through the mechanical action of scalp massage rather than lathering surfactants. Applied to soaking-wet hair and worked into the scalp for at least 60 seconds, it removes sweat, sebum and light product buildup effectively. For heavy product buildup, alternating every third co-wash with the LOVE CURL Shampoo prevents accumulation.
What is the difference between Davines LOVE CURL Essential Haircare Co-Wash and LOVE CURL Shampoo?
The Co-Wash replaces the shampoo entirely as a low-lather cleansing conditioner, suited to thick or very curly hair that loses too much moisture with regular shampooing. The shampoo is better for wavy to lighter curl types that wash frequently. Both are in the LOVE CURL family; the choice is based on curl density and how your hair responds to traditional lather cleansing.
What results does the Davines LOVE CURL Co-Wash deliver with the full Routine 2?
Used in Routine 2 with LOVE CURL Mask and Cream, Davines' testing shows up to 5x more nourished hair, elasticity enhanced by 16%, less breakage, and up to 72 hours of anti-frizz and curl definition. These results are based on the complete three-step Routine 2 system.
Can I use Davines LOVE CURL Essential Haircare Co-Wash on colour-treated curly hair?
Colour-safe. The gentle low-lather cleansing is particularly beneficial for colour-treated curly hair, which is more vulnerable to moisture loss and breakage after processing. Removing sulfate-heavy shampooing from the routine helps preserve both colour vibrancy and curl integrity.
