Ask ModaWhy does copper colour fade faster than other colours?
Red and copper pigments have the largest molecular structure of any hair colour molecule, which means they sit closer to the outside of the cuticle and wash out faster — especially with heat, sun exposure and frequent washing. Fabuloso Copper replaces what is lost with each conditioning wash.
Do I really need to use gloves with this one?
Yes — with Copper specifically. The pigment is strong enough to stain fair skin, nails and fabric visibly. Disposable gloves take ten seconds and will save you a lot of frustration. Use a darker towel when drying your hair afterwards.
I left it on too long and my hair looks more red than copper. What do I do?
Reduce your processing time to two minutes on your next wash. Direct dye pigments fade naturally between washes, so one to two washes at a shorter time will bring the tone back. Going forward, two to three minutes is usually enough to maintain copper without pushing it redder.
How often should I use Fabuloso Copper?
Every wash for the first few weeks to rebuild tone, then every one to two washes to maintain. Because red pigments fade faster than any other tone, consistent use matters more with Copper than with any other Fabuloso shade.
Should I start with the 30 ml or go straight to the 220 ml?
Start with the 30 ml if you have never used a colour-depositing conditioner before. Copper is one of the more intense shades in the range, so learning how quickly your hair grabs is worth the smaller investment first. Once you know your timing, the 220 ml is significantly better value per wash.
