Ask ModaWhat is the difference between Total Recoil and Liquid Rollers?
Total Recoil is a lighter cream-gel hybrid designed for fine to medium curl and wave patterns. Liquid Rollers is a richer balm with more slip and hold for medium to thick curl types and drier patterns. If your curls go flat with heavy products, Total Recoil. If your curls always want more, Liquid Rollers.
Will Total Recoil leave a crunchy cast on my curls?
A slight cast while drying is normal — it means the polymers are doing their job holding the pattern. Once the hair is fully dry, scrunch gently with your hands to break the cast and the curls will be soft and defined underneath.
How much should I use?
Start with a small amount — about the size of a 50-cent piece for medium-length hair — and build from there. Over-applying is the most common curl mistake and harder to fix than under-applying. For very fine hair, start even smaller.
Can I use this on second-day curls to refresh?
Yes. Dampen the hair with water first until the curl pattern starts to reassert itself, then scrunch a small amount of Total Recoil through the lengths. Diffuse briefly or scrunch and air-dry. It refreshes the definition without a full wash.
Should I start with the 30 ml or go straight to the 200 ml?
The 30 ml gives you enough for three to five applications to confirm it is the right weight for your pattern. If you know you prefer a lighter curl product, the 200 ml is the everyday size.
