The formula is designed to set firmly and resist moisture absorption once applied. Most styling products soften in humidity because the polymers that create hold are hydrophilic — they absorb water from the air. Shape Matt Putty uses a firmer-setting formula that maintains hold even in high humidity or after perspiring.
Can I rework my style after applying RICA Shape Matt Putty?
Limited reworkability — it can be touched within the first minute of application, but once it has set it holds firmly. For a more workable matte product that can be reshaped through the day, the Grooming Clay has more flexibility. Use Shape Matt Putty when the style must stay as-is.
Do I apply RICA Shape Matt Putty to wet or dry hair?
Dry hair gives the best result. Apply in sections to completely dry hair before the putty begins to set. Work quickly and shape immediately after applying each section — the humidity-resistant formula sets faster than a standard clay.
How is RICA Shape Matt Putty different from RICA Unique Matt Clay from the styling range?
Both are matte products for short to medium hair. Shape Matt Putty is firmer-setting and humidity-resistant, designed for men who need their style to hold through active or outdoor conditions. Unique Matt Clay is flexible-hold matte for everyday use with more workability. Putty holds harder; clay moves more.
Does RICA Shape Matt Putty wash out easily?
Yes — despite the firm hold and humidity resistance during wear, it washes out cleanly with your regular shampoo at the end of the day.
