Ask ModaIs the Davines OI Hand Balm safe for clients with nut allergies?
No. The OI Hand Balm contains both Almond Oil and Walnut Seed Oil. It is not suitable for clients with tree nut allergies. This is confirmed in Davines’ official allergen documentation. Clients with nut sensitivities should choose the OI Hand Oil instead, which does not appear on Davines’ nut exception list.
What does the OI Hand Balm smell like?
It carries the full OI signature fragrance — the same distinctive scent as OI Hair Oil and OI Shampoo. Warm, slightly spicy and widely considered one of the best-smelling products in the Davines range. It’s one of the main reasons clients reach for the hand balm after discovering OI for their hair.
Will the Davines OI Hand Balm leave hands feeling greasy?
No — the Roucou Oil base absorbs cleanly. A small amount massaged into damp hands immediately after washing leaves a soft, not slippery finish. Using too much on very dry hands may leave a temporary rich feeling that absorbs within a few minutes.
What is the difference between the Davines OI Hand Balm and OI Hand Oil?
The Hand Balm is a richer cream texture with Almond and Walnut Seed Oils — better for very dry or cracked hands needing intensive moisture. The Hand Oil is a dry oil formula without nut ingredients — lighter absorption, better for daily maintenance or clients with nut sensitivities.
Can the Davines OI Hand Balm be used on the body as well as hands?
It’s designed for hands and cuticles specifically, but the Roucou Oil and nut oil blend works beautifully on elbows, dry patches and any area that needs targeted intensive moisture. For full-body OI softness, the OI Body Wash pairs naturally with the Hand Balm as part of the same routine.
