Ask ModaDoes Ever Smooth work if I air-dry instead of blow-drying?
No — Ever Smooth is heat-activated. The Long Chain Polymers and Wood Bark Complex require the heat of the blow-dryer to activate. Without heat the formula remains inert. For air-drying, Smooth Again Treatment or Staying Alive are better leave-in choices.
Will Ever Smooth make my blow-dry feel stiff or coated?
No — Kevin Murphy describes it as a weightless spray that becomes undetectable after activation. The Long Chain Polymers align with the hair shaft during the blow-dry rather than sitting on top. The result is smoother hair, not hair that feels coated.
Can I use Ever Smooth on fine hair without losing volume?
Yes — the weightless formula does not add density or interfere with volume products. Apply Ever Smooth first, then Body Builder or Anti Gravity on top before blow-drying for maximum volume alongside the smooth result.
Is Ever Smooth the same as Heated Defense for heat protection?
No — different purposes. Heated Defense is a dedicated heat protectant to 232°C. Ever Smooth is a blow-dry prep that activates during blow-drying to create a smooth, frizz-resistant result and reduce drying time. Both can be used together.
Can I use Ever Smooth alongside Blow Dry Wash and Rinse?
Yes — they form the complete Kevin Murphy BLOW DRY regimen. Blow Dry Wash and Rinse deposit keratin and prep the cuticle. Ever Smooth applies to towel-dried hair as the blow-dry preparation layer. Together they maximise both smooth result and blowout longevity.
