Yes — red is the fastest-fading of all hair colours, because red dye molecules are large and sit closer to the surface, washing out more quickly than other tones. That's exactly what Colour Refresh Autumn Red is for: it re-deposits deep red pigment between salon visits to keep the colour rich and vibrant for longer. Many red-haired clients use it regularly, even weekly, as part of their wash routine. It lasts around 4–10 washes each time and gradually fades, and it conditions the hair as it tops up the colour.
Will it lighten my hair or cover grey?
No to both. It only deposits red tone — it can't lighten, as it contains no bleach. And the semi-permanent pigments don't cover grey (results on grey vary and aren't recommended). Autumn Red refreshes and intensifies existing red, auburn, and warm colour; it works best on already-coloured or naturally warm hair. On virgin or very light hair, red pigment can grab unpredictably, so a strand test is essential to see the result and check timing.
Will it stain my skin, towels, or shower?
Red pigment is the most staining of all the Colour Refresh shades, so take a little extra care. Always wear gloves, and wipe any product off your skin (hairline, ears, neck) promptly. Use dark or old towels, and rinse the shower or bath straight after use so pigment doesn't sit on surfaces. The colour rinses off skin and surfaces easily if dealt with quickly, but can mark if left. Rinse your hair until the water runs clear.
Is it damaging, and can I bleach over it later?
It's not damaging — it's a conditioning treatment built around Argan Oil, Provitamin B5, and nourishing ingredients, so it leaves hair soft and glossy rather than dry. Important, though: always tell your hairdresser if you've used Colour Refresh (especially a red) before any bleaching or lightening. Red pigment in particular can be stubborn, and residual colour can affect or discolour a bleach result, so your colourist needs to know to plan the service correctly.
