Moda stylist tipIntensity depends on base and timing: on pre-lightened or blonde hair the violet shows brightest, and leaving it longer (up to 10 min) deepens it; on dark hair it adds a subtle purple sheen and dimension rather than a full change. For pastel lilac, mix with White Mix. Strand-test and wear gloves (violet stains skin and light hair readily). Deposits tone, won't lighten. Tell your colourist before any bleaching.

Yes — Colour Refresh is a nourishing hair mask carrying semi-permanent pigments that attach to the outer layer of the hair rather than penetrating it like permanent dye. Vivid Violet deposits purple tone with no lasting commitment, so it's ideal for trying a fashion colour or refreshing existing purple. The effect lasts around 4–10 washes and fades gradually. Fashion shades like violet can fade a bit faster than natural tones, especially on very light hair, so you may top it up more often.
Will it show on dark hair, and do I need to bleach first?
On dark hair, Vivid Violet adds a subtle purple sheen and dimension rather than a bold, obvious colour — the darker your base, the more subtle the effect. For a bright, true violet, you need a pre-lightened or blonde base, where the pigment shows vividly. You don't have to bleach specifically for it, but the result depends entirely on your starting shade. A strand test shows exactly how it'll look on your hair, so always do one first, especially with a fashion colour.
Can I make a pastel lilac instead of a bold violet?
Yes — mix Vivid Violet with the Colour Refresh White Mix (an unpigmented nourishing mask) to dilute the pigment into a soft pastel lilac. The more White Mix you add, the softer and more pastel the result. You can also shorten the leave-in time for a lighter effect. This works best on pale blonde or pre-lightened hair, where pastel tones show clearly. You can also mix Vivid Violet with other Colour Refresh shades to create your own custom tone.
Is it damaging, and can I bleach over it later?
It's not damaging — it's a conditioning treatment with Argan Oil, Provitamin B5, and nourishing ingredients, so it leaves hair soft and glossy. But always tell your hairdresser if you've used Colour Refresh, especially a fashion shade like violet, before any bleaching or lightening. Fashion pigments can linger, and residual colour can affect or discolour a bleach result, so your colourist needs to know to plan the service and avoid a muddy outcome.
